A full parking lot at JMU may or not be rare, but visitors of the C4 Lot this weekend would have found it filled with cars not typical of our crowded lots.

We’ll be at VIR and Summit Point this semester with NASA Mid-Atlantic, autocrossing with the Blue Ridge Region SCCA, and hosting what we hope to be the best car show in MM history. Spring 2011 marks ten years of MM being a sanctioned club of James Madison University, and we’re very excited to make this semester even better than those prior!

We have some great events in store for this semester, so keep watch on our homepage, our forums and our Facebook page for updates!

The College Solo Invitational went off almost entirely as-planned, which was awesome. We had some issues with scoring between colleges. Rules will have to be modified for future events to ensure fair scoring across the board. See results here.

We’ve also had solid turnout at several other autocross and track events, and are excited to continue such participation in the next few weeks. We are anticipating more good times in the weeks and months ahead and are pleased to be growing in numbers on the JMU campus.

MM celebrates its’ 10th anniversary as an official, JMU-sanctioned club in the spring! We are planning a Tenth-Anniversary celebration of some sort, so stay tuned for more details as that weekend is planned. The goal is to lump the “MM-X” celebration with our annual spring car show to encourage a high turnout at both events.

Its time to get down into the nitty gritty of an MM-filled fall semester. We’re talking about setting up an MM text message system for you guys that complain about missing impromptu event’s but don’t like to check on the forums. Email madisonmotorsports@gmail.com with your name and cell phone number to opt in on that. Once we have it set up we’ll distribute the MM number.

Don’t forget about Student Org Night this Tuesday, September 7 at 6:30 PM on the UREC turf. A bunch of us old cranky senior are graduating this year, so we need to drum up a lot of fresh impressionable freshmen to carry on our legacy.

Wednesday, September 8 we’re going to have a Parking Lot Meet at the top of the Showker deck to show of our whips to some new members, and probably make a trip to Kline’s.

Don’t forget about the Freshman BBQ Friday, September 10 at our humble President’s home in Pheasant Run. We’ve got the College Solo Invitational Coming up in two weeks, so get registered and pumped for that, and keep your eyes peeled on the forums for some wrench days to get our rides ready.

On Tuesday, August 24th – we’ll be at the Tree Houses. Specifically, Cedar, Maple and Magnolia.
On Wednesday, August 25th – we’ll be at Hoffman Hall. That’s the one that was recently renovated and located next to the Quad… not the one in the village.

MMers – we will be meeting at the Tree Houses (on Tuesday) or the Warsaw parking deck (on Wednesday) at 8 AM. Be sure to wear your shirts.

Move-in is scheduled for Tuesday, August 24 and Wednesday, August 25. We do not yet know which dorm we will be helping with, but will keep members updated with the latest. If you would like to help with move-in but do not have a place to stay the week before school, get in touch with Jake and something can be worked out.
