JustinG Wrote:Yea so I think what I sent you may only work for music, not sure about video. But after you transfer all your music from iTunes via PC/MAC, I would recommend you start using Google play music vs iTunes, it is accessible on all devices unlike iTunes.
I used to use google play, but I need iTunes because iPhone.

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - JustinG - 05-12-2017

Why though?

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - JPolen01 - 05-12-2017

Actually it looks like the finally have a Google Music iOS app. I had given up on that a long time ago because they didn't have an app for it. I'm going to do some research this weekend and see what I can make work.

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - JustinG - 05-12-2017

Yea, cause I have it on my work phone.

Only reason I know that you would need iTunes for is a hefty is update, but even my 16gb work phone does those fine.

JPolen01 Wrote:I'm still looking into if the chrome os can run iTunes. Quick glance on the Internet says no but Justin sent me a link that says it's possible. Need to check that out. How much for the Asus? Assuming it's still functional?
$150 I guess, I've used it daily for 1.5 years but in really good shape. Only thing I never figured out is that battery use is too high when sleeping, so I let it hibernate after an hour which works. As windows continues to bloat the 2GB ram and this processor are a little painful when I'm asking it to do a few things at once.
Let me spend a little time this weekend on my son's Chromebook and see if I can get it to do everything I need before I give this Asus up. brb.

Yea.....

Down $500 on reputable online sellers.

S3, S4, S6, S6 edge, S8

The S8 is, by far, the most massive leap forward.

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - BLINGMW - 05-18-2017

How on earth would anyone be interested in a Samsung phone after the battery debacle, on top of the fact they're one of the worst manufacturers for OS upgrades? Especially one that appears to be ungrippable? They should just ship them with cracked screens.

Hardware, software, features, design.

Not sure I trust the opinion of anyone who posts that abortion you did farther up this page.

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - BLINGMW - 05-18-2017

Obviously I'm missing something. All I see is:
Hardware - Same components as everyone else but in a configuration rushed to market after previous design proved to be dangerous.
Software - Android 7 with a few forced proprietary additions that manufacturer will have no motivation to get right if they ever bother updating to 8.
Features - Is it the heartrate monitor you're excited about?
Design - It's another generic black screen that will need a case to function in the real world. As a bonus the fingerprint scanner is in a dumb location.

Not gonna get in a spec pissing match, but here's why I use Samsung.

hardware - 4k, wireless charging, chipset, curved screen (works well in one's pocket)
software - actually prefer touchwiz over stock android
features - wireless charging, blue screen filter, 24 hours on one charge, ip68 rating
design - I'm on my fourth Samsung and have never had a case. :dunno:

The one thing I will concede is the fingerprint sensor is in a terrible location.

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Sully - 05-18-2017

Because wireless (fast) charging. Done.

Also only the phablets really had the issue.

But I do agree that I wish they would stop trying to make the thinnest phone possible and glass backs. Make it so I can grip it and don't need an additional case but can still drop it and use it. I don't go full case. Just a bumper which makes it more holdable. Broke the factory back on the s7 waiting for my case to show up in the mail. (no Amazon prime le sad) and the eBay one I replaced it with somehow broke in the case. Can't fault Samsung for that though. Who knows if the factory one would have broken.

Talk to me about TV mounts. Anything you wish you knew or did differently?

I'm going to want some moderate left-ride angle, but don't need a articulating arm.

I have two of those and my buddy got the larger version for his 65. No frils, does the job.

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - .RJ - 05-30-2017

^ I have a very similar mount. Would recommend.

Apoc Wrote:That's the model I settled on, except in 65". I have a 55" now and, based on pictures, you definitely want 65". My wall isn't nearly as McMansion as yours and the 55" feels smallish. Given how long you keep your TV, go bigger now and don't think about it for another 10 years. The 2017 models are coming out in a month or two and it's not a marked upgrade, so I'd wait for a sale on the 2016. Imma wait until Black Friday, if I have to.

Pro Tip: There are several reputable online dealers that don't charge tax.

Bought one yesterday on newegg. Free shipping, no tax, $600 credit (newegg points) to use later, and 1 mile per $ bonus from my credit card in addition to normal mileage (6,000 miles total). I was trying to wait for the prices to fall farther, but I got impatient. The $600 in credits really sealed it for me.

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Apoc - 06-12-2017

While Justin was out shopping for more soul crushing vehicles and drinking peach beer aged in white wine barrels, I was busy buying the TV he wants. The picture is pretty nice if you're watching 4k from YouTube or something, but I probably won't get a chance to mess with upscaling until this weekend. It'll be wall mounted next month, due to some scheduling issues with the guy I trust to hang it way more than I trust myself. After that, I'll be all set for 4k content on the XB1X that was announced today. Smile

65 OR GTFO

In all seriousness, you should pull the trigger Justin. The 65 isn't nearly as imposing as I expected and my viewing distance seems to be shorter than yours. If you have to wait for a price drop, do it. You won't regret 65.
