JessicaRabbit79 Wrote:...Now I'm getting serious about trying to find my *perfect* beginner bike. My thoughts on this matter are: cheap, something that I won't care if/when I drop it, something small enough to not get away from me, and something big enough that I won't be bored a month after I get it.

I do NOT want a sport bike.

1. Honda Shadow VLX 600
2. Kawasaki Vulcan 500

Also acceptable:
3. Suzuki Boulevard S50
4. Yamaha V-Star Classic

I would love to not spend more than $1500, since it will be my first bike.

Now that I have full gear, and it's the season when people begin thinking about selling bikes in earnest, I'd like to bump this back to everyone's attention. So, I pulled out the important stuff from my first post in regards to what I'm looking for. My mind hasn't changed a bit since then, so my only reason for re-posting is to see if anyone knows of any of these bikes that are currently for sale. Smile

Thanks in advance if anyone has leads for me!

- Ginger - 01-15-2007

Jess... maybe not a sportbike, but not a cruiser either? Some kind of Universal Japanese Motorcycle would be fun, and they'll let you get away with just about any kind of riding. Maybe a BMW airhead? XS750? You can pick up a lot of neat variations on those:

I'm sure I'll think of something more later.

So we bought an '86 Yamaha Radian YX-600 - Jess loved it, and I had a good time blasting around the mountains of Highland county on it. Nice little bike. Got a good deal from a friend of the family.

And unlike my VFR, it has a current inspection 8)

Picking it up for good in a couple of weeks.
