drove the SRT-4 the other day. Not too bad, and would def consider buying it as a cheap DD further down the road.
As for the E46, that is the only car (besides MMers) that actually could hang with me out on track at VIR (HPDE 1), so they get my props. I still think they look like butt compared the E36 though, and hence would rather spend the money on a 36 and invest the rest in go fast goodies and other shizzle.

you need to get out of hpde 1 man... i've rolled corvettes, bmw's, porsches, etc in my shitty integra but gotten rolled by even bigger pieces of shit than mine in group 1. the higher the level, the more you get exploited for horsepower. the only thing i can come close to rolling now are some miatas and some e30s. everything else just kicks my ass.

heh, thanks for the compliment. I think I can honestly say that being in MM made us faster out on track due to us being more relaxed from not having to deal with all the normal bullshit of a track weekend.

Yes, it is practical, affordable, quick. I don't care. If someone gave you a giant piece of poop that took you from 0-60 in 2 flat, would you ride it? I'm not equating the neon to poop... just sayin, i wouldn't buy it. Maybe if it costed like 5Gs. I'd probably take a base RSX over one knowing that it would always be slower.

I respect the fact that it is indeed fast and can give many more powerful cars a whooping. I wouldn't buy one for the same reason I wouldn't buy an evo. I'm just not impressed with it. an evo is faster than any type of poop and I still wouldn't spend money on it. I'd rock an STi tho. Doesn't mean I don't respect the evo. I'm just not a fan of the HORRENDOUS turbo lag and the high driving position. After driving the evo on an official test drive this weekend, I was relieved to get back in my slower rx7.
It's just my opinion. For me to rock a car, price doesn't matter, looks don't matter. Driving experience matters. Character matters. Experiences with the car matters.

Nik has a 337, 180bhp stock, 1.8t (the SLHS nik who had the yellow stang)
He brought it to Vals house this weekend and had the following, some cat back system a stage 3 kit on it, kw variants, and a bunch of other motor work. The car is INSANE! On paper its supposed to be pushing just under 290 to the wheels. Whatever its pushing it is the fastest car I have ever driven. Faster than the sti, than the ws6, than the s2k.... The car is down right sick... just felt the need to share that. He scared the crap outta me and made me squeel like a little girl... then got out on hunter mill and told me to drive it

So I take it that you've driven an SRT Neon at length and that is why you don't like it? Wait, you said you've never driven the Neon so obviously you don't know anything about the driving experience it offers.
These Neon comments reek of hatorade. It is fast, cheap, and it doesn't look like the engine will be unreliable. It kind of falls down on the handling so there is valid quibble there, and many don't like the styling or the reputation the Neon has. Still, none can deny it has great value and performance. I can say I would not buy a base RSX over the SRT4. I'd probably opt for neither.

I'd also opt for neither. I was just trying to prove that I'd take almost anything over it. And I drove my fair share of neons at crapmax. I know the platform. I know the nasty interior. I know the cheap parts. I guess it's just my o-pin-nnnnion.
If I got one for free.. I'd sell it.
