Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - WRXtranceformed - 08-14-2011 Check out Star Blitz by the same company that makes gun bros.. it is essentially the same exact game just with starships. its also way harder. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Apoc - 08-14-2011 I wanted to write an update of the TF after my trip, but I'm tired and lazy. Suffice the say, the flexibility of tablet and netbook worked pretty well for the various combinations of planes, pools and hotel room during the week. Watching movies and playing games in tablet mode and then docking to write a few journal entries was money. The major downside I've found is most of the (free) games require an internet connection to play, because they want to serve you ads or phone home to track all your habits. I'm not sure if this is common among tablet, android or just free games. I also had a couple of people who'd read about it approach me to ask if I could demo it because they were seriously considering it.
Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - WRXtranceformed - 08-15-2011 15 WB up for grabs tonight! Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Apoc - 08-15-2011 I need more friends cause I rarely get the full reward. :-( Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - JustinG - 08-15-2011 Has this been covered????? Online file storage recommendations??? Preferably free, actually, has to be free, im not paying for that shit just yet. Looking for a way to store raw video online from the GOPRO, so HD quality. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Ryan T - 08-16-2011 I'm not sure if this has been touched on in the useless electronics thread, but I'm in the market for a navigation system. I can't find one that will go into the dash of my silverado and keep the cd player and such without upgrading to a 2003 bezel and a/c controls. I'd be fine with an externally mounted one. We've been using the navi on sam's smartphone during our honeymoon and it blows donkeynuts. My mom has a garmin that is a couple years old, but has technology on these advanced much in recent times? Is picking up a year or so old unit worthwhile? I'm completely out of touch with technology when it comes to navi. You aren't going to find anything free that will have enough space to host more than a handful of raw videos. If you do the compressed versions, you're probably much better off. Google Docs - 1 gig Dropbox - 2 gigs Box.net - 5 gigs Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - JustinG - 08-16-2011 Apoc Wrote:JustinG Wrote:Has this been covered????? Thats what I was afraid of..... Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Apoc - 08-16-2011 Why do you want to host the raw versions? Maybe your needs can be met another way. I beleive in nice expensive in dash units. He beleives in the cheap on-dash ones. The times ive used my girlfriend's and my sisters on dash ones ive wanted to throw them out the window. They are also liable to get stolen and have your window broken out (my friend had hers stolen twice, and twice broke out her window; way more expensive than that GPS unit). However the cost difference $100 vs $700 and up, I wouldnt buy the in-dash JUST for the navi. (my in-dash was so I could use ipod, hard drive, sat radio, DVDs, etc.) I know one thing, avoid Tom Tom. Out of the on-dash ones ive used, thats probably the worst fucking one ive ever tried. My girlfriend's mom even threw her Tom Tom out the window of the car, no joke. Well I ran into an issue with Maeng, he used my go pro at hyperfest. However, with no computers present I had to take the video/camera with me. No way to send him the file aside from mailing him a thumb drive due to limitations in email. And if others use the go pro ill need a way to get them the video. The files off the GOPRO cannot be compressed, because they are already MP4. Would also like some place to store my hi res photos, (vacations, weddings, etc) Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Evan - 08-16-2011 my dad is really happy with his new garmin. i forget the name but its one of the new ones that looks like an iphone. youll have to pick the features you want yourself, liek lifetime maps, lifetime traffic, etc Re: Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) - Apoc - 08-16-2011 JustinG Wrote:Apoc Wrote:Why do you want to host the raw versions? Maybe your needs can be met another way. Unlimited webhost space can be had for $5/month. That said, I would just upload the file to box.net since it has a 5 gig limit. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - WRXtranceformed - 08-16-2011 I saw a beautiful Rolls Royce at a Cars and Coffee show a few weekends back. As the guy was leaving, he pulled out a Garmin and popped the suction cup on the windshield. We all laughed at the irony of a car that expensive not even coming with integrated navigation. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Evan - 08-16-2011 a LCD screen would look nasty and out of place in a rolls royce. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - WRXtranceformed - 08-18-2011 I'll get on it tonight when i get home!
