Depends on the state i would imagine, i haven't tried it out Google Maps but when i used Nokia Here Maps it took up about 300MB for NYS. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Apoc - 02-23-2016 I don't think you can get directions while offline, as it requires their servers to calculate the best route. The offline maps are more for reference/detail, than actual directions. If for some reason it does not work, then download Nokia Here Maps, because it definitely works there. Looks like they updated it to include offline directions: https://support.google.com/gmm/answer/6291838?hl=en Standard GPS units have megs/gigs of maps to help calculate the best route. Google Maps did not previously download enough information to provide this. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - JustinG - 02-24-2016 Google maps offline has been around for a couple of years, the nav hasn't though, that's pretty awesome. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - JustinG - 02-24-2016 Want.....for my moto 360. ![]() GULF ALL THE THINGS Or maybe a lil Martini action?
Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - WRXtranceformed - 02-25-2016 Yeah I just picked up a bunch of those from Clockwork Synergy on Amazon for my SKX007. Love being able to swap them out! Some of the stitching they use is a little rough on the wrist though so I took a super high grit sandpaper and just sanded the burrs down (they use some kind of plastic / nylon thread or something) Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Sully - 02-28-2016 The 7 and 7 edge are on display in my stores up here. I think I'd be ok with a the 7 edge. It's actually the same width as my s5. I would have liked to have held it with a case on it cause I don't even like my phone without a case on it. But You can only get the gear s2 if you do it online so I'll think about it I guess. I'm not in love with the gear s2. I wish I could put the promotion towards an s2 classic so I could put somewhat different bands on it. Kinda sucks plus it's an extra $5 a month to have the watch and the guy thought it was a 2 year contract on that as well which would suck if I end up hating it and never wear it. Especially cause I feel like I'm more likely to wear a metal banded watch as opposed to rubber Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - JustinG - 02-28-2016 Why is it $5 a month for a device that doesn't even connect to their network? Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Sully - 02-28-2016 Looking from some advice here though. I would have to trade my phone in but it's only got $75 till its paid off and I do have the option of course to pay it off. Maybe it's just the hoarder in me but I've always kept my old phones. Normally I buy the media dock (cause they're super cheap by then) and use it as my alarm clock cause you can set different times for different days. But lately I've just been using my current phone. So can anyone think of a reason to keep it. It's so close to being paid off is my biggest thing. Having a backup would be good but I have insurance on my phone and plan to keep that until the new phone is at least a year old probably longer. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - JustinG - 02-28-2016 How much could you sell it for? Selling price - $75 = Money in pocket Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Sully - 02-28-2016 Idk. I probably wouldn't bother selling it. I guess I could use it as a standalone vr thing for like a cheap v4 headset but I have no real use for that. It's also kind of glitchy. Like the keyboard closed about 10 times while typing that long post above. The more I think about it, the more I think it'd be better to just trade it in. It also won't rotate sideways anymore unless the app forces it to but then it won't come back sometimes. Apparently a common problem after one of the updates. You have to switch you screen transition and then restart the phone and it'll rotate for a little while until you turn your screen off a few times Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Apoc - 02-28-2016 I keep one model ago as an emergency phone, because you can still call 911 without a SIM. That said, yours sounds all busted so I'd get rid of it while the gettin's good. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Sully - 02-28-2016 I mean not completely busted I guess. Still use it every day and usually don't get too pissed at it. Its just definitely a 2 year old Android model at this point. I've always kept my previous phone. My the one before this actually popped the battery while on the media dock. In that like the battery exploded I guess, cause the backplate is all bent from the inside out. I'm torn. I don't like givng Up my old phones that have had personal information on them plus like I'm right there lol. I've paid like $525 of $600 and now I just give it back? I know I'll have no use for it but I just don't want to give it away and get nothing lol Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - JustinG - 03-08-2016 Anyone want a Tylt band for their smart watch or any other watch that uses a 20mm band? I ended up with 2 somehow. $20 http://www.tylt.com/moto360-2-band/ Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - WRXtranceformed - 03-10-2016 Imma go buy an S7 of some kind tomorrow, will let you all know what I end up with! Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Jake - 03-10-2016 From a Verge review of the S7: Quote:But it still has two email apps, two photos apps, three music players, two voice control systems, two app stores, and two text messaging apps. On top of that, Verizon adds thirteen more apps, including three from Amazon, another text messaging app, another streaming music app, and a navigation app that competes directly with Google Maps. These apps can be "disabled", but cannot be removed entirely. How are carrier-specific non-removable apps still a thing? Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - WRXtranceformed - 03-10-2016 Eh I mean that's Verizon. The device specific apps are whatever, I see people's iPhones all the time with like a million apps and folders of apps. They're just a part of phones now, I end up disabling most of them that I don't use and they don't show up on my app list. If it really matters to someone a lot of folks will root the phone and manually delete them, which is always an option on Android phones. Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Jake - 03-10-2016 Oh I know, I'm just amazed that the carriers still try to get away with it. I remember back in the day of flip phones (Razr-era) Verizon was installing their own shitty OS on everything, instead of letting the OEMs run their own at all. Completely ruined the phones. Like, in this day and age do people really get a Verizon or AT&T $Droidtastic and think "oh yes, I will use AT&T Communicator instead of this button that says Email, and I would love to use VZW Navigator for another $9 per month, never heard of this Google Maps thing before!" and use/pay for the apps? I'd slip in an "Apple > others" but even they give you apps that can't be removed entirely. At least they prevent carrier bullshit. I think a Nexus is the only Android phone I could stomach, just because it's so non-BS and gets updates on time, yadda yadda. Very curious what you think of the S7 though, Lee. Reviews have it pegged as a really sweet phone. |
