So it looks like my S7 can take a microSD card up to 200GB. I didn't even realize they made them with that much memory. Recommendations for a good 128gb or 200gb mSD card? I went on Amazon and there's like a million with all kinds of suffixes attached to them for different applications....my head asplode

Well like the other 10 reviews I've read, it pretty much says it you want the edge, get the edge, but if you don't get the s7. So not exactly helpful. I'm looking for that must have or that one flaw or something. Anything really. I played with both again tonight. Of course without cases which makes it hard to decide but I'm still super undecided. There are pros to both phones and I actually like both. I'm buying something tomorrow because that's really the last day I can possibly do it and get the promotion.

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - WRXtranceformed - 03-16-2016

The Edge is going to feel a lot bigger especially with a case on. This is the last time I'll say it but the S7 with a slim protective case feels REALLY good in the hand and the pocket. It doesn't feel like a phablet, which IMO the Edge probably would once you put a decent case on it. If you didn't rock a case and you are fine with a slightly larger phone then the Edge would work.

 Ordered the 128GB model, that's more than enough capacity for my phone. I've almost maxed out my 32gb card so this should last me for a while~

Haha, i ordered the same one the other day, should be arriving today. Wasn't going to but then i saw it can record video in 4K and i can see that getting out of hand quickly.

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - WRXtranceformed - 03-17-2016

Haha nice!

So apparently with the S7 if you call another newer Android (like another S7 or my wife's Note 5) it connects in "HD" quality. I didn't realize that but it's pretty cool, my wife sounded super clear when I called her this afternoon from the airport in DC

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - WRXtranceformed - 03-17-2016

Yeah I had to download Swype, the oem keyboard wasn't cutting it. Night and day, the logic on this problem is worlds better. I did get to try out the headphones on my trip today and was not overly impressed. They changed the bud design and it doesn't sit right on my ear so it lets on a lot of ambient noise. Probably will go back to using my old ones

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Sully - 03-18-2016

Yea buds might be the same as from the s6. I took my dad's when he got his and they definitely don't fit as nice as the ones that came with the s5. Almost fall out.

OK networking gurus, learn me wireless routers.

I have an AirPort Extreme that I got in... 2011? I think. Maybe 2010. It's from college. Does 802.11n, is dual band, has some wired ports and a USB port for a printer or hard drive. All of that, I like. What I don't like is that the range is diminishing and speed is suffering as a result. The roommate and I have noticed issues on all our devices and the router hasn't changed locations since we moved in, so I think it may just be time for a new one.

Our interwebs is Comcast and I own the modem, so I can't/won't get their shitty rent-a-router.

Tell me what I should get. Presumably 802.11ac is the new hotness. I want all the other features from the Apple router to remain. A new AirPort Extreme is $199, so if I can't spend less than that, I'll get another Apple router. If I can do it for half the price (or even less than that!) I'd be thrilled.

We have the router on the middle floor of our 3-story townhouse and want good range both upstairs in the bedrooms and downstairs in the basement/garage.

AC is definitely the way to go, you're also going to want GB ports (which i believe the AirPort extreme had) for your hardwired stuff just to future proof in case you get over 100MB internet.

I bought the following and i absolutely love it, great reception and was very easy to install. It also allows for some more advanced features should you feel the need, it's pretty much their nerdy/SMB offering - http://www.amazon.com/Linksys-Dual-Band-Wireless-Gigabit-WRT1200AC/dp/B00UVN20T0

If you want something a little simpler but still nice - i installed the following at Toni's parents house and coverage has also been pretty solid. This is a more typical consumer facing model but still does really well. http://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-AC1750-802-11ac-Gigabit-R6400-100NAS/dp/B00Z0V2NQ8/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1458326348&sr=1-1&keywords=netgear+AC1750

To save a couple bucks take a look at the certified refurbished models, that's how i bought my AC1200 and it works perfectly fine.

Also both come with a neat little app that allows you to view some basic settings and remotely re-boot, which is nice. You can even set them to allow true "remote" access by typing in the network address of the AP so that you can reboot from outside the WiFi network.

I bought this and it has really helped the upstairs reception of our three story townhome: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HHR ... detailpage

Could be another option before you pony up for a new router. I bought this wireless router back in October of 2014 and it's been pretty gangster since: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BUS ... detailpage

I don't know shit about routers, but ditto to this. Snagged my router and modem as an Amazon Warehouse Refurb deal.

Bout half the price, no issues in 3yrs.

Keep in mind that even the best repeaters will still result in a slower speed out, just with higher reception signal.

I've heard mixed things about the TP Link, but that's also a solid option. Although, worth noting, that the USB ports are only 2.0.

Net gear R7000 has been great, highly recommended.

Yeah I set up our extender to be hardwired as its own network. I renamed it the same as our main home network because it's really only our cell phones and an occasional laptop upstairs that need it. The cell phones seem to jump to whichever network is the strongest wherever we are in the house (and speed isn't as much of a concern). I hardwire in everything that matters (work laptop, PS4, smart TV)

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - .RJ - 03-18-2016

I have a newer Apple Airport, and its great. No range issues in my townhouse, speed is good, my Macbook automatically backs up to the HD connected to it. No fuss.

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - Sully - 03-18-2016

On this topic, my router is currently....ummm like 14 years old so we need to upgrade too. I have horrible connection most time since Comcast "upgraded" our modem. And super slow. I actually switch to my mobile data quite a bit while at home. My question is can I buy any modem to replace their shittastic one? And then I'll probably pick up a new router at some point.

Re: The official tablet (and other useless electronics) thre - .RJ - 03-18-2016

You can hook most routers to the WLAN port on your cable modem. That's what I do.
