Re: Project: TL Type S - ScottyB - 05-05-2011

wow....looks really good, like brand new good.

yikes on the fog, i had no idea they ran that high. how much were they straight from the stealership?

Re: Project: TL Type S - WRXtranceformed - 05-05-2011

$220+ before shipping from the cheapest new OEM online parts sources! Confusedhock:

Re: Project: TL Type S - WRXtranceformed - 06-15-2011

Brake pad time...Duralast Gold C Max pads lifetime wear and tear warranty is coming in handy! Bought a new set of front and rears (~$130) and all I have to do is bring back the old ones to AutoZone for a refund once i get them off the car. Smile

Re: Project: TL Type S - WRXtranceformed - 06-16-2011

Quick question - last time I flushed the brake fluid was about 55k miles ago and almost 2 years. Honda recommends no mileage interval but says once every 3 years...what say y'all?

Re: Project: TL Type S - ScottyB - 06-16-2011

i would, personally. i don't know what most people like to do their street cars at, but i usually go with every 2 years or 30k miles unless the pedal feels crappy and needs bled sooner

Re: Project: TL Type S - Mike - 06-17-2011

if it ain't broke, don't fix it. that's just me.

Re: Project: TL Type S - WRXtranceformed - 08-25-2011

So the positive wiring harness that connects to the battery terminal...the ring part that you tighten down...completely corroded through today and broke off. I literally had this guy ghetto rig it with a vice grip to get it to my mechanic. Couldn't be worse timing too, right before I was about to make a big trip up to VA to see my girl, family and Rex's FIL's 'Stang. Sad

Re: Project: TL Type S - Apoc - 08-25-2011

Maybe it wants to keep you out of the hurricane.

Re: Project: TL Type S - WRXtranceformed - 08-25-2011

And fixed for free by my Honda mechanic friend. awesome! Appears the battery is leaking, going to have to replace it when the new harness comes in (this is a temporary fix). I have the worst luck with batteries in this dang car!

Re: Project: TL Type S - D_Eclipse9916 - 08-25-2011

Apoc, do you still have a hookup for optima batteries? I need a new battery probably...

Re: Project: TL Type S - WRXtranceformed - 10-04-2011

SO it's about that time I'm thinking to potentially trade this car in for something newer. The thought creeped into my head on Friday when I called my credit union to find out the payoff and it was higher (and the pay off date was much farther away) than I had thought it was. As of right now, it's worth a few thousand more than what I owe on it, and it just hit 120,000 miles. I have a feeling that's not going to be the case for much longer, and I don't really want to risk having something expensive break down the line.

A few ideas floating through my head, and I as always welcome your feedback:

- New gen Cadillac CTS (3.6 direct injected is the model I'd look at)
- IS350
- G37-S (one of the only Infinitis I don't think looks like a girly car, SWEET freakin engine, AWFUL on gas mileage is my big complaint)
- Acura MDX (still way pricey on the used market for low mileage)

My only requirements are that it needs to have equal amenities to my TL-S (navi, backup camera, etc.), would prefer RWD now, and maybe a little more power out of the box. That's pretty much it. Also not interested really in any German cars, unless you can make a REALLY good argument as to why it's not going to self-destruct on me and cost a lot to fix.

Readygo!

Can't speak for the others, but I drove one of these as a dealer loaner car (don't ask) and was quite impressed with the whole package. Good engine, good fuel economy, quiet but still with some throatyness if you really stomped on it, and enough HP to get out of it's own way.

I imagine you could get a 2-3 year old one for pennies.

Re: Project: TL Type S - Jeff - 10-04-2011

I have to say it.... 300 SRT8?

This would be fuckin tits also...but not sure if it can meet your fuel economy requirements.

Re: Project: TL Type S - Jeff - 10-04-2011

Regular c can get him in the 20's.

Re: Project: TL Type S - ScottyB - 10-04-2011

the caddy is sweet. if mileage is more of a concern, maybe the new buick regal GS? 270 horse 2.0 turbo, 6 speed, and i think its available in AWD although that's not as fun as RWD. i think they look pretty cool.

I'm leaning toward this one too. I actually REALLY liked a basic non 3.6 CTS I rented, and you can find surprisingly nice loaded examples in the mid to high 20s. I forgot to mention, the idea of ventilated seats is a huge plus to me. That's the one thing that would pull me toward the IS350.

SRT 300 would be freakin sweet, I have a feeling I would rape through gas in that thing with my lead foot

Taking a look at this on Thursday

Seems like a good price for a optioned out example!
