Country Fried Wrench Day - JohnC - 09-23-2004
I'll be tearing into the Z on Sunday, to take care of the following things, with some variation depending on whether or not my radiator gets here in time.
Radiator Independent:
HICAS delete
PCV valves
Spark plugs
Fuel Filter
Air Filters
Oil Change
Radiator Dependent:
Radiator replacement
Timing belt
Timing belt tensioner
Idler pulleys / studs
Water pump
Coolant Flush/Replacement
and half a dozen other things I can't remember right now...
Anyone who wants to come out and help and/or drink beer is welcome. I'll be getting started around 8am, and going until finished or dead. Follow the directions in this post. Of course, Maeng already backed out - something about his mom.

Sorry man... Next weekend is out, unless of course the radiator doesn't show tommorrow. Then I may have to find some time next Sunday... I'll post here of course.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure you have a timing chain. As far as I know, all Nissan V6s use timing chains. Not an easy job...

So Nissan went from using timing chains in the 80s to belts in teh 90s, and back to chains again for the VQ35DEs?

Apparently. Its a belt, has a 60k service interval. Its in the FSM... looks like it will require many cases of beer and cause many headaches and nightmares

So I'll be working on most of the stuff listed above under "Radiator independent", but the rest of it will get pushed to Sunday, October 3rd - Country Fried Wrench Day Part Deux!

this event has been postponed on account of a possible sale of the VW requiring travelling.
Possibly be doing it next weekend instead.

Thanks for the save, Dave. I wasn't able to post due to ongoing issues with the site (ie - I ran out of patience). This "event" will happen next Saturday or Sunday - depending on what happens with the VW sale. I'll post here with more details later. And of course, now RJ and Maeng have no excuses
