Hey guys! I'm the new Secretary/PR officer and the first thing I wanted to do was make a new shirt design to get people around campus to know that we're an actual JMU club.

This post is for the alums to approve because we don't want to do anything like this wasn't making sure it sticks to the traditions of MM. At the meeting last night, we spend probably an hour as a group voting/creating a new design.

In this design we wanted to do a couple things:
- Keep the MM logo
- Show case that we are an actual JMU club
- Have a design that also reflected out motorsports agenda

Now, please, be open minded. All of the current members really like this new design and we feel it'll be a good thing to finally have a shirt that is similar to all of the other club shirts so that people notice we are a club easily, but also VERY unique.

The things on the right are tires, and the things behind the logo are tire marks. This is a rough sketch, but I should have an actual rendering soon.

Use the miata one Scotty rendered for us a few years ago. We didn't use it because it had gradient,(according to Ryan at sos) And couldn't be done for less than $17 a shirt. Find out if moxie can do it cheaper. Slap on the drivers club part and done.

If its not in the mm drop box, I have the files I can give you.

I'll be honest, I didn't read any of the posts because I'm in cm class but its a shame Scotty made this shirt and it never made it to production.

I don't know the Miata one. Is it possible to get rid of the gradient. We're sticking with the people we use now, Moxie is not cheaper. If we can get rid of the gradient, then I can work with it.

i've altered the miata file in the past to show a halftone pattern instead of a gradient. They should have no issue printing it.

I like the one we spent two hours creating. We also decided we weren't going to use any cars on the shirt because its too specific and everyone may not like said car. Remember?

I remember. I do. I threw that up because it took 2 seconds. Haven't gotten someone to make up a good version of the current student's ideas.

I'm going to need everyone else to not be so quick to try and change the first design either. I literally got no feedback, but instead got "No, use this completely different thing."

Once I get access to the Facebook page, I'll post this thread and get the current student's opinions on the Miata one. I feel like a miata is the most neutral car we could use.

I can tell you right now that you will end up feeling murderous if you try to make a design by committee. Come up with some concepts, make a cut off date for the decisions, then roll with it.

I think I have some MM shirt concepts hanging around somewhere. Might be willing to sponsor an Aclr8/MM shirt if you guys want to put together a decent deal.

Thanks for reminding me, Gerald. We're looking into putting sponsors on the back of the shirts this year in order to raise more money for the club. It'd look pretty cool with automotive sponsors. Nothing is set in stone, and we have more research to do.

And I was just giving you an idea. I never said use it. It would be helpful if the other members came on here and voiced their opinions of the design.

I like the shirt I spent 2-3 weeks working with Scotty on and went through 4 or however many pages of discussion on.

Not trying to be a dick but two hours is nothing for anything relating to design especially in a voting environment.

Also, maybe I need to see it in a digital rendered version but that design is ugly and has too much going on in too confined of a space. The cheapest shirts are one to two colors max and there is no way those tires won't look like ass in 1-2 color printing.
EDIT: im talking about the new design not the miata one above

The miata caught a lot of shit the first time through as well and I think the thread may have been lost in the great knowledge dump of 2012 or whatever year it was.

BTW, I just finished my last class so I'm grump alumni status now if you couldn't tell Wink
