Project: Tight Squeeze - Lucy - 04-16-2015

My first car:
So after thrashing on my mustang (will be receiving its own thread soon  ) for 2+ years so i would be able to drive it to high school, costs and availability of a quality paint job put that project on hold...

So I bought this: 1990 Corvette, 5.7l l98 v8, automatic, 53,000 miles when purchased, $5,000.

Mods:

Although i haven't done any performance mods to my car besides a flow master exhaust and putting in K&N filters, i have installed a full sound system:

First i went with JL audio 5x7" coaxials in the stock rear locations and JL audio 5.25" components in the front with dome tweeters in the doors, powered by a Kenwood KAC-749s putting about 40w rms to the mids and high.

Then i got this:

Sundown Audio SA-12 powered by a Sundown SAZ-1000d @ 2 ohms seeing about 650w rms
All stinger 4 gauge ofc wire

Custom box, 1.75 cubic feet @ 32hz
Box has received carpet since then and is screwed in so i don't get decapitated, wiring has also been tucked

You got that for $5000? Hell, I can't even find a Miata with 50k on the clock for that!

That sub is ridiculous. Is that the glass moving? Also, welcome to the forum. Maybe you can spread some of that Drag racing knowledge around.

Re: Project: Tight Squeeze - Mike - 04-16-2015

$5k!?!? Shit, I need to buy one of these meow. Wife hates how they look, but one of those attainable childhood dreams. I may only own it for a month, but I can guarantee you I'll be replacing the rear tires.

Yeah the l98 powered c4's are super cheap right now. They don't have much hp but make over 300 ft lb of torque. But most come with bilstein shocks and 275/40r17's all around which makes them pretty fun to drive

And yeah thats the window moving. Its all about the box!

I fucking love when y'all say that to each other. When Lucy jumped out of the Mustang I was in and you said that, I almost lost my shit.

Re: Project: Tight Squeeze - Sully - 04-16-2015

My box sits behind my seat with the port on the bottom. The first time i cranked it up, i was like where the hell is this air coming from thats hitting the back of my legs. Took me a minute to realize what it was. Its also started sucking plastic bags into when i was thinking and put some groceries or stuff from a Lowe's run in front of it lol

Edit: wasn't thinking*

Yeah i had mine facing forward until the zipper from my bookbag rubbed off some of the surround. Still plays perfect, it sounds batter with the port facing backward anyways.

Makes me glad to not have a ported box. Don't want any small animals sucked in there.

Re: Project: Tight Squeeze - Ken - 04-17-2015

Makes me miss my old setup - it was two subs wired in series for a final output of about 1100W RMS @ 3ohms. Add to that the Kicker components I had at about 200W RMS. My ears did not like me very much. Or my neighbors.

Re: Project: Tight Squeeze - SlimKlim - 04-17-2015

I just remember that "No Hands" would vibrate the mirrors in that car so hard you couldn't make out a single thing in them.
