FS: Invicta Carbon Fiber Pro Diver Chronograph Watch (12571 - WRXtranceformed - 11-18-2015

Not sure how much interest there is here but thought I would list it anyway for any MMers! I'm looking at doing a factory sapphire crystal swap for my Skyhawk and since this watch gets 0 wrist time I thought it would be a great way to break even on it and let someone else enjoy this cool piece.

The watch is an Invicta 12571 Pro Diver Chronograph with carbon fiber face. The watch is in a subjective 96-97% condition, with very very minor signs of wear. It has only been worn a handful of times and kept in a watch box. I swapped out the OEM rubber straps with a matching black and grey NATO strap with brushed aluminum rings that perfectly matches the carbon fiber face. It's way more comfortable and gives the watch a rugged look. This particular watch has a mineral crystal with date magnifier (with no scratches) and a nice rotating bezel. There is a tiny burr on one part of the bezel that the watch came with from the factory. It didn't bother me so I didn't bother to send it back, but it is represented in the pics. The movement is Swiss quartz and has kept better time honestly than any other watch I have owned other than the atomic sync watches. The watch claims water resistance to 660 feet, although with my past experience with other Invictas I probably wouldn't go scuba diving with it (if I scuba dived). This one seem to be on their higher end of quality though so take that for what it is!

Here is a link to Amazon for more details on it: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ARSRC60?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00">http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ARS ... ge_o02_s00</a><!-- m -->

The watch is large and wears fairly heavy so keep that in mind! It gets tons of compliments and looks really sharp in a suit or a t-shirt. Includes box, hang tag, warranty card and papers, OEM rubber straps and the NATO strap. $75 shipped!

what does carbon fiber do for me in a watch?

I like your watch. I don't wear mine very much, maybe I just need something cooler that I like. That being said, I see there are "skeleton" watches available, have you seen one of those you like or would recommend? I'm guessing there must be something fatally wrong with the no-name $20 ones on Amazon, but what about like:

Is "BOS" worth a damn?

Kenneth Cole?

And are both of these mechanical self-winders? Do they keep time worth a damn or should I just stick with battery powered ones? I don't want to have to set it every few days.

For whatever it's worth, I had similar Kenneth Cole one that completely broke on me with very light use. The hands just broke somehow and spun around freely.

Thanks man! I am familiar and love the skeleton look. My Oris TT1 diver had a skeleton caseback that showed off a really sweet looking auto movement:
[Image: 20140116_222357_RichtoneHDR_zpsmgjkhdyl.jpg]
I also have a cheap steampunk-style pocket watch I picked up at the Renaissance Festival one year that has a skeleton front case and back.
I have not heard of BOS before but without digging in too deep it mentions being "WR to 100M" but then tells you not to shower with it or submerge it. I would steer clear just on that conflicting note. Agree with Ken on the fashion companies selling watches, they don't tend to last very long. Depending on how much you want to spend there are some options you could at but I think a good starting point would be something like this:

<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.jomashop.com/invicta-watch-20433.html">http://www.jomashop.com/invicta-watch-20433.html</a><!-- m -->

Skeleton window in the front, skeleton case back, decent WR (so it says, I have had mixed results with Invictas so I probably wouldn't take it scuba diving), nice Submariner look and oyster bracelet and an automatic movement so you just wear it to keep it charged up. And for $100 you can't go wrong.

If you want to spend a little more and get a really great brand with a really great movement, this is probably about as cheap as you'll ever find a Jazzmaster (pre-black Friday sale)

Edit: I saw I missed your note about winding. Most watches nowadays are either automatics (powered and charged by the movement of your wrist) or quartz (battery powered). Automatics generally have a 2 day power reserve at best, so if you don't wear it every day and you don't want to reset it before you wear it, pick up a watch winder and keep it on that. Once you get to the higher end automatics like Oris, Omega, etc. they keep very very good time, but most good ones are going to be +/- 6 or 7 seconds a day. Quartz watches are generally more accurate, but also require battery replacement unless you get an Ecodrive / solar powered watch. Most skeleton watches I have seen are all automatics so keep that in mind when you shop; just check out what the movement is Smile

do you do a lot of diving?

Still a bit confused, as I understand there are:
1) regular battery powered (like the one you have FS here)
2) "automatic" self-recharging battery
3) "mechanical", have to wind an old-school spring every day or two and accuracy depends on what you pay
4) "mechanical", "self-winding" which is still a spring, some people like this old stuff

So there are some cheap "mechanical self-winding" watches that I'm pretty sure I'm not up for. But are you confident "automatic" that's used in most of the titles of the ones you and I posted are example #2? I think that's what I want, but then you said they usually last a couple days without wearing, which sounds more like mechanical. I have a ~10 yr old Seiko "Automatic" (#2) that will shut down the hands and keep time for months in a drawer and wake up when you shake it, and is still on its original battery... so yeah I like that type.

Yes, battery powered is a quartz movement, automatic is self charging from motion. There are some mechanical watches out there still but they are either pretty rare / expensive, super cheap and junk or very, very old. That was why I put the emphasis on "most" watches being either quartz or automatics. And yeah if you see anything has an auto movement it would be #2. Swiss autos (ETAs, etc.) are generally more desirable and more expensive, Japanese movements (Miyota, etc.) are durable and reliable. Your Seiko is probably a "Kinetic" which is an interesting type of auto as I think it has a much longer power reserve because of that shut off feature...I have one too that broke when I think the seals failed when I wore it at the lake. It had the same feature.

If you really don't want to worry about keeping it charged, there are some skeletonized quartz watches out there I found by doing a quick search on Jomashop. Invicta actually makes a few it looks like. They're just a little harder to find more options for than autos. 8)

Re: FS: Invicta Carbon Fiber Pro Diver Chronograph Watch (1 - Apoc - 11-24-2015

FWIW, I have a quartz analog (two actually) that keep perfect time. They're not skeletons, but I have to think a few more moving parts won't make that much of a difference. I have a few mechanicals, including some self-winding, and they're always dead because I don't wear them every day. The mechanicals are good for a nice occasion but they're usually so massive compared to a quartz that I'm not interested in wearing them enough to actually keep them wound.

Re: FS: Invicta Carbon Fiber Pro Diver Chronograph Watch (1 - WRXtranceformed - 12-14-2015

Sold a G-shock I didn't wear much that covered the sapphire crystal swap, and dropped this to $80 shipped on the WUS forums so that I can make room in the watch box for when they get the new batch of Swiss ETAs and can begin manufacturing again:
