Large vintage BMW meet in Asheville, NC on May 19th and 20th.

I'm super excited to get a green light from the family to attend this year, after a couple of false starts in previous years. I think there were 470 registered cars at last check.

Dave. Hyperfest. What are you doing. All these hufferpuffers do is walk around a lawn and stare at parked cars and talked about their turbo plans that never come to fruition.

Ever seen the car show at Hyperfest? Subtract lawn and add skidpad. :thumbup:
That said, what Dave's going to will be full of cool old cars. The Hyperfizzy car show is a bunch of people who compete to see who spent the most money having RRT bolt carbon fiber bits on their 2017 Mwhatever.

The trip down was pretty un-eventful. We met up with a few folks from Winchester and here, took 29 down to I-40. Someone in the group scratched so there was an extra entry, we quick ran back home and grabbed m-cognito for my father-in-law to drive down. Ryan's e30/M62 lost a coil pack outside of Lynchburg, the flames he was shooting out were cool, but it was about a 90 min delay to source another. (Autozone 20 min away had one on hand!) I had one pucker moment when the 02 started to overheat in stopped highway traffic, loose ground on the electric fan was all. Both cars did really well, and pulled 31-33mpg on the highway. (to be fair, we were only doing like 60 max on the way down because one guy had a 4 speed 1600, so the s50 was sleeping the entire way)
Jake was right, The Vintage was packed with old, awesome, cars. It was a really great atmosphere, real laid back and everyone is super friendly, even the stancedturboe30brahs. I did an awful job photographing anything, but here's a couple larger albums posted on FB.

It's hard to get a good sense of the size as the park had a bunch of trees separating different parking fields, but hopefully drone footage will be up soon. I think there was ~600 of the 650 registered there that day.
Outside of the cars, the Asheville area is simply beautiful! So many fun roads through the mountains and amazing scenery. I wouldn't mind going back there for a vacation some time and do touristy things.

That's so awesome! Even better both of your cars made it down! It's a shame you weren't at Hyperfest, but this seems just as cool!
