Indeed. If you don't like what Microsoft is doing...then don't use Microsoft. Lots of good Linux builds out there now, almost something most people could use every day.
When Microsoft starts to lose profits to open source markets they will wake up and stop doing crazy shit.
...Or they'll lobby for legislation against open source products. Either way, something will happen.

the open source market is a drop in the bucket for ms, i don't think they're concerned. recall all the budget computers that were sold with open source software a few years back? yeah, they failed.

Exactly my point. Microsoft has no competitors, so if they want their operating system to require you enter your driver's license number in order to log on, then they can. Who's to stop them?
My point was that until people get fed up with the way things are, and start hurting Microsoft in their wallets, then Microsoft is going to do what it wants.
But Microsoft Bob is proof that if the consumer stands up and says "No, we will not accept this shit you feed us" that MS will listen.
