Evo Article: TVR Cerbera Speed 12 - G.Irish - 05-25-2005 This month's Evo has articles on the new TVR Sagaris as well as the monster of monsters, the Speed 12. Quote:Development started, and when TVR's engineers tried to measure the output of the 7.7 litre V12 - effectively two Speed Six engines spliced at a 90 deg to a common crank - it broke the dyno's input shaft. They extrapolated its power and torque by running each bank separately[960 hp]. Work continued until one evening Wheeler drove the development Speed 12 the 40-odd miles home to see how it was shaping up. "I knew within 300 yards that it was a silly idea..." One of the most insane, stupendous, irresponsible cars ever made, unfortunately never sold to the public. Normally I don't care much about such frivolous exotic unobtanium but I fondly remember trying to control the Speed 12 in GT2 and failing miserably. Its kind of neat to read that the car is just as ridiculous in real life. Go buy it (Evo that is). - .RJ - 05-25-2005 Evo r0cks. RJ - buys it every month now, along with Racer, Racecar Engineering and GRM

The photography alone is worth the price of admission - ScottyB - 05-25-2005 .RJ Wrote:The photography alone is worth the price of admission one of the main reasons i pick up CAR and Top Gear from time to time. Evo will be getting subscription paperwork from me very soon I love TVR. i like the design philosophy, the creativity and ingenuity, and obviously the performance. I think my favorite model would have to be the T350. it has that tuscan-like shape, but more refined, and the performance is sick. if they EVER bring TVR to the states, i'll be in line at the dealership. On a side note, Top Gear did a bit on the speed 12....the way that car sounds is just so raw. what a machine. |
