So I got approved for a loan... - Feersty - 11-14-2005 and it is enough to buy a decent ride...... - Ginger - 11-14-2005 is it a PAD? How much? Did you decide on something? - Evan - 11-14-2005 Rob if this is another "what car should I buy" thread, I swear Im going to burn your house down. - .RJ - 11-15-2005 What is a decent ride? A yugo? a miata? a m3? a escalade? If you have to stretch your budget to make a $400/month car payment happen its not worth it. Dont forget insurance, gas, maintenance - all part of the picture. otherwise, i agree with evan. - WRXtranceformed - 11-15-2005 Nice dude. Buy my WRX! - Andy - 11-15-2005 Congrats Feersty. Let's give him a chance to elaborate. (Don't let me down Rob.) - white_2kgt - 11-15-2005 ha, preapprovals! christina and I got approved for 800k for a home loan 2 years ago, I couldn't IMAGINE paying an 800k mortgage! - Feersty - 11-15-2005 asteele2 Wrote:is it a PAD? How much? Did you decide on something? PAD? I'll PM you with what I am looking at, I don't want to annoy everyone again. This was merely a loan preapproval announcement. - .RJ - 11-15-2005 PAD = Preapproved. They give you a blank check not to exceed a certain amount. Thats how my credit union does things. Also, if you dont use it in 30 days (I think) its void, so I havent bothered with one unless I've found a car I know I want to buy. If its just a preappoval with no $$ or check associated with it, then its basically worthless and you've just wasted your time. What is your credit like? good, bad, indifferent, none? parents co-signing? - Feersty - 11-15-2005 zero credit, parents co-signing. - ScottyB - 11-15-2005 Feersty Wrote:zero credit, parents co-signing. why no credit? having good credit down the road is helpful, and as long as you don't abuse the card it's pretty damn convenient. - Sijray21 - 11-15-2005 ScottyB Wrote:... and as long as you don't abuse the card :hammer: - navin - 11-15-2005 I'm gonna hijack this beotch.. does anyone have good reccomendations for a first credit card, I'm pretty much clueless about that kind of stuff. I have bills, etc in my name but no loans, etc that would build my credit. I trust myself with a credit card, as I usually buy all my crap in cash after working, save a little, etc... So long as the credit card never makes into a bar I'll be fine ![]() I dont even get applications or pre-approval's in the mail, its like they dont even wanna ruin my credit.. - JohnC - 11-15-2005 Advice to anyone wondering about credit - pull your report. You can do it for free, once a year from http://www.annualcreditreport.com. - Sijray21 - 11-15-2005 i'm getting in trouble with mine. Just read the fine print regarding apr. I have 0% on purchases till 2006 - i've had it since July. I just charged too much to it (Motorcycle and Insurance Deductibles ($500/ea)). but i did need to use it for those. Just look for ones with lower rates (<10%) after the trial period and ones with benefits (frequent flier miles, cash-back, gift rewards,...etc). Stay away from Store CC's - i know Best Buy's rates are near 20%..? something crazy. CC's are great if you use them properly - i'm learning the hard way and i'm writing LARGE checks in the coming months (fo-digits yo). - Sijray21 - 11-15-2005 JohnC Wrote:Advice to anyone wondering about credit - pull your report. The FICO score isn't provided - that you *do* have to pay for. But the actual report (listing current/past accounts, lien holders, collections, etc) is really what matters if you need to fix something. - Evan - 11-15-2005 $6 for your fico score is a great deal, where did you get that? most sites want $30 - Sijray21 - 11-15-2005 Evan Wrote:$6 for your fico score is a great deal, where did you get that? it says $30, but go for the free credit report and then they give you an option to find out your actual score for $5.95. I went to the site and it marketed $29.95, i'll check which exact process i followed and i'll PM or IM you with it. - white_2kgt - 11-15-2005 navin Wrote:does anyone have good reccomendations for a first credit card, I'm pretty much clueless about that kind of stuff. Sure as shit the one month you can't pay off the whole thing, is when your rate goes up! |
