first attempt? not bad at all.

- Mike - 12-07-2005

not bad at all for a first attempt. the front and top look great... the side? heh... regardless, better than i could do Tongue

Drawing 5-spoke wheels are very difficult...if they are not perfect, they will look odd. Nevertheless, as you progress through your drawing skills, I will suggest addeding more details to the wheels...make them 2-dimentional, add brake discs, and add brake calipers, as well as use eclipse templates to draw the tires/wheels. The drawing will look a lot sharper that way...An excellent job, though, I must say on your first attempt. If you want I could show you some of my work!

you know what he's talking about Tongue

i can only draw profile and 2-D drawings personally. i suck at spacial dimensions and perception.

Wherefor art thou, Z-Axis?

Jay, I knew what he was talking about, I'm just jealous because my drawerings suck, and I must belittle the work of others in order to inflate my own ego.

Elloooo, my name is Siiiiiiimon and I like to doo drawerings.

The point is I can't even do that.

I couldn't draw a straight line with a sharp pencil and a ruler.

- HAULN-SS - 12-07-2005

ah, yeah..speaking of that...i definately need to invest in a compass and a ruler...i think i can do a lot better job..especially on the wheels and curved body lines....hard to do that stuff freehand..and I'm pretty sure people like foose and others use tools to help them

Here are a few of my drawings...some are my own concepts, and some are production cars. Most of these drawings were done when I was about 14-15 years old. I will say that when I was in 8th grade, I came 6th place nationally in Road and Track's Kid's Automotive Design Contest. I was mentioned in the June, July, or August 2001 edition of the magazine, I got a t-shirt, an autographed photo of Carroll Shelby, and a free one-year subscribtion to Road and Track. I was very proud of my success, despite my personal dislike of my entry, which was a futuristic BMW supercar:

thats amazing! you are my idol....i was always late for the deadline with that contest (and usually busy with other stuff i should have put off for the contest). awesome drawings btw, i'm just now becoming comfortable with markers. i typically just stick with ink:

i much prefer the freedom of conceptual drawing though:

where do you intend to go with your talent? i have looked into a few schools out west but i'd like to stay on the east side. ideally i'd like to see myself working in some kind of automotive design aspect in a few years, once life settles down for me a little more.[/img]

ok maybe i need to repay you for the family guy movie. it's been in the works for a while...

ScottyB, nice drawings...you really capture a sense of speed and movement in both of them. At this point in my life, pursuing a career in car design would be sweet, but my Mom is a fashion designer, and she tells me how it is difficult to keep drawing hundreds of renderings when you are not in the mood to do so. For me, I like to draw cars only when I am in the mood to do so. Sometimes, I rather be doing other things. Also, the automotive design industry is very tough to make a living. For now, I will pursue a career in finance, and when I make enough money to be comfy, then I will look elsewhere for a job that I like
