Ok, so I needed some exhaust bits to fix the miata's check engine light before I sell it (bad pre-cat), and I call these guys up. I basically say I need the whole exhaust (manifold, heat sheild, downpipe, mid pipe (w/ cat) - everything except the muffler.

I went round and round on the phone with them for a week (i'm out of the shop, i'm off tomorrow, i'm picking up a car today, blah blah) before I could pin him down and give him some money (odd how that works). I was very clear in what I needed, and handed over my visa for $100, and I thought it was all done, rightt?

No!

They did not send me the mid pipe with the cat, and I called today to complain about this and the dude keeps arguing with me that the whole pipe, with the muffler is one peice - and i'm like "look, on my car, the muffler unbolts and all the aftermarket exhaust list the same fitment for 99-2005 miata. But he said "i got a dozen of these things here and they're all one piece" , which is absurd. He then says "well the whole piece is heavy and its a pain in the ass to ship so I didnt send it".

Besides, how would you replace the exhaust if it didnt split going over the rear suspension and axles?

Anyways... the parts I did get look to be in pretty dirty/rough shape, but they're exhaust parts so whatever - but I wont order anything from those guys again, and I sure cant recommend them to anyone. I'm going to call them again tomorrow and at least get some of the $$ back, since their website lists the manifold and the downpipe at $35 each.

One of these days I'll make a post about all the good vendors out there......

I rarely order from anybody anymore unless I know they're reputable... not worth the trouble after being ripped off several times.

- ButtDyno - 01-05-2006

Maybe PBC has some stuff lying around? They pretty much rock...

- .RJ - 01-05-2006

Who's PBC?

They sell parts online, but they have a real shop/garage etc. Worth an email... they're probably good at finding parts.

After calling alex (kingrat), flyin miata and looking at my car again to confirm that I am not an idiot, I call the guys at planet miata back and ask him again about the midpipe -> muffler thing and the pricing.

He still argues with me that everything is one piece and you have to cut it to drop it. I think he's high on crack. I told him to go outside and look at his parts - he still offered to send it to me, but Alex (who's buying the car) said not to bother since he's doing to put a straight pipe on it anyways.

Anyways.... i was quoted "$100 for everything" and did not get the cat/mid pipe, and he said "well i didnt charge you enough for the manifold, those things usually for for alot more because they're so much better than the 99-2000". I dont give a shit about the performance, i'm fixing a problem and $100-$125 for a complete low mileage system is in line with what i saw on miata.net's forums. Instead i got half of a high mileage rusty exhaust system.

I gave up arguing about it since I have better luck arguing with my dog. I could send everything back and dispute the charge on my visa but its not worth the headache.

So fuck those guys. Next time I'll do some more research when ordering used parts.

- John - 01-06-2006

Kingrat is buying your car?

- Evan - 01-06-2006

sounds like you need to burn their bright green tshirt in effigy

- .RJ - 01-06-2006

Didnt they send you a manifold with busted studs?

- G.Irish - 01-06-2006

Fuck that, send it back on dispute the charge. $100 could be used better elsewhere. Besides, crappy businesses like that one deserve to get hosed.

- .RJ - 01-06-2006

Well the problem is, if I send it back then I have to find another one for Alex, and its not worth the hassle - will cost me more $$ in the end.

- Maengelito - 01-06-2006

swap the racing beat muffler with me then

- .RJ - 01-06-2006

:?:

- Maengelito - 01-07-2006

you have the racing beat muffler, dont you? swap with my stock one if alex isnt gonna use it in the first place

- .RJ - 01-07-2006

Cat pipe != muffler Wink

- Maengelito - 01-07-2006

.RJ Wrote:Alex (who's buying the car) said not to bother since he's doing to put a straight pipe on it anyways.

since he's not using any part of your exhuast system, swap mufflers with me

- .RJ - 01-07-2006

He's keeping the muffler and putting a striaght pipe in place of the cat.

- Maengelito - 01-07-2006

ah, a test pipe... okay, nevermind
