What are your work hours - Feersty - 05-03-2006

How long is your commute? How much time?
How many hours a day?

As you know I go from Springfield to Chantilly

Wake at 6am( try to)
Leave house at 7am
Sometimes take a lunch, sometimes not
Leave at 4:15-4:45pm
Commute is 23 miles one way. Takes 45, 50mins

I left today at 5:30pm took an hour.

My ultimate record was like 33 minutes leaving at 3:45pm-4pm

- .RJ - 05-03-2006

If you commute when its not rush hour, your trip time will drop in half.

I can work whenever the hell I want by I try to leave the house by 7:30, get to work by 8 and then leave around 4:30.

- ScottyB - 05-03-2006

work 9:30 to 6, so i get the sloppy seconds of both the morning and afternoon rush. all suburban/neighborhood shortcuts, zero highway.

10 miles, 30 minutes, no matter how fast i actually drive.

- Andy - 05-03-2006

7ish-4ish. 15 minutes with traffic, 10 minutes normally. I miss rush hour both ways which is great except that I'm heading to work.

- BLINGMW - 05-03-2006

I leave at 8:40ish to get there by 9:30, 26 miles. ~50 min to do what would otherwise be a 30 min drive w/o traffic, so I shouldn't complain too much. It just sucks stopping on the highway, which makes up most of my drive.

1 hour lunch, I try to work at least 8 hours/day.

I head home around 6:30 or 7, drive back is on average much better. Sometimes as little as 35 min.

A couple times a month, something big will go down and the drive can be an hour+ :? OTOH, a couple times a month it's a government holiday, or the mexicans are marching downtown, or (once) it snowed a little and no-one went to work, and it takes 30 min. yay!

- Mike - 05-03-2006

leave house around 8:25, get to work between 8:55 and 9:15, lunch optional, leave 5 to 8, get home 30 minutes later.

- JohnC - 05-03-2006

Leave house between 6:30 - 9:30, get to work 25 minutes later, leave from 3 - 10, back home 25 minutes later. Lately, I've been cutting out early to take a nice ride home, then I work on reports and managerial crap for a couple of hours in the evening (with my loyal assistant Beer).

- Gs dewd - 05-03-2006

I work 8 to 4 m-f. Takes about 45 mins to get there (cville)

- John - 05-03-2006

Usually at work around 0730 and leave when my work is done... or sometimes I work until a normal departure hour, then come home and continue to work from my couch. Commute each way is 8-10 miles (depending on whether I'm at the client or at the office) and takes about 15-20 minutes max.

- LorenaBeana - 05-03-2006

AM: wake up at 5:45, leave by 6:30, work from 7 to 7:30pm, home by 8
PM: wake up usually at 5ish, leave by 6:30, work from 7 to 7:30am, force eyes open until I hop in bed, usually be 8:15am

- Dave - 05-03-2006

Commute is 4 miles, can take 7-10 minutes, depending on lights. Work 1:30am -11:30am MWF and random hours on other days of the week.

- REED - 05-03-2006

Wake up at 530ish
Leave around 630
Get to work around 730
leave at 5 - M-Th
Leave at 4 - every other friday
every other other friday - off

- WRXtranceformed - 05-04-2006

Wake up at 5:45.
Leave by 6:25.
At work by 7:00
Leave work ~6-7:00pm

The kicker is I end up doing more work when I get home, so it feels like I'm actually working 14 hour days when I'm really only working 12 hah

- Ryan T - 05-04-2006

m/w/f - wake up at 8:30. go to class until 1:10 (m/f) or 3:20 (w). if I work I go in at 3. leave my house at 2:50, 3 miles, 7 minutes. Leave at 11pm. Drive home, 3 miles, 5 minutes.

tues/thurs - wake up at 10:30. campus till my classes end at 3:15. Drive home, change clothes, go to work at 4. leave at 3:50, 3 miles, 7 minutes. Get off at 11pm. Drive home, 3 miles, 5 minutes.

- Kaan - 05-04-2006

--- What I do----
Wake up: 4:30am
Out the door: 5:15am
Unlock the office: 6am
Leave for home: 2pm
Arrive at home: 3pm (summer) and 2:20 (winter)

Fridays are aweful... everyone is heading south for the beaches. Summers suck too because the college students clog my roads getting to their internships Wink

----What I could do----
Wake up: 7-9am
Out the door: 45-50 min later
--> sit in 2 hours of morning traffic
work for 8 hours with my bosses around giving me their work to do
---> sit in 2-3 hours traffic getting home!

btw, my commute is 21 miles one way. even on good days and times i rarely average the mile a minute that is 60mph!

Dude this sucks!

Today I woke up 5:45am got to work at 7:30am. Commute was niiice. I'll leave at 4:30pm.

- bassmangrammy - 05-04-2006

My morning commute is about 10 feet from my bed to my desk, but I normally grab a shower first, so that's another 80 to 100 feet. Then I sit down at my desk for a few hours whenever I feel like it and bang out some Über-price code. I'm currently working on a project where I'm billing roughly the balance on my Mercedes.

- Sijray21 - 05-04-2006

my morning commute is almost always side roads. Which is nice on a nice day. Little traffic and it's about 25 minutes one-way.

my hours are usually 8:30-5:30, but i try to get here by 8 so i'm out by 5. I really wish i could come in earlier and leave earlier, but i have to be here due to gov't (client) hours since i'm located on-site.

Fortunately since i'm on-site i'm only working 8 hours a day. Within a month i should be transferred back to my company's HQ in Falls Church then i'll be working more hours.

Cliff notes:
commute time
now - 25 minute
future - 25 minute

hours
now - 8-5
future - 8-6/7 or later

Oh, I forgot to mention that my commute is right around 20 miles of farm country back roads, and I don't hit a stoplight until just before my office building on the outskirts of Charlottesville. Its therapeutic, to say the least.

- Dragon - 05-04-2006

I make my own hours at work, so really it all depends on my mood, but typically it's:
6:30am wake up
7 - 8 workout at gym
9am leave for work
9:20am arrive at work
5:30pm leave for home
6pm arrive home
