Cracked rotor? - HAULN-SS - 06-21-2007 Hey - It looks like one of my rear rotors is cracked..or at least deeply scored..I don't know that I could tell the difference...but anyway..should that be covered under warranty? Wonder what could make that happen on a street car with factory pads/rotors? - .RJ - 06-21-2007 Its probably not scored, just a heat mark from setting the parking brake with hot rotors/pads. Either way, rotors/pads are consumables and not warranty items. - Mike - 06-21-2007 brakes are wear items so they typically aren't covered... that said, a crack isn't from wear, but a defect... is it just a stress crack or is there actually physical space in between the two sides? if it's just stress and it's still pretty much solid, don't worry about it. - HAULN-SS - 06-21-2007 yeah, i can't see the gap, but it's definately not scoring, because it's going perpindicular to the rotation. I'd say it's still pretty much solid. I'd say it's still pretty much solid. Run a fingernail across it and see if you can feel anything (scoring, etc) on the rotor. What did you tell them? Assuming that's the case..do I just tell them they feel worn?
