Ever tried to find anybody? - HAULN-SS - 12-12-2007

So the background: I went to summer camp a couple of times when I was a kid. I had a few friends from the camp that I never saw again after the last time I went there. I guess when you're young you just assume you'll be back next year..but then you don't go. One girl in particular was a diabetic, and the last day of the last time i went to summer camp she didn't show up. Last thing I heard about her was vomiting blood in the bathroom the day before. For some reason lately i've had an urge to look up some of these people just to see how they did in life.

Sooo...any idea where to start? I have been trying to find some free public records to search, but all I can find are criminal, and phone directories. I have found the one girls "name" anyway, but no way to look up an age or anything to see if it's the right person. It would be even better if there were an email address lookup. because i'd feel less weird about that than cold-calling a bunch of people. I'd rather not pay a site that may or may not actually have the person in their databases.

Maybe I need to lay off the sauce and quit being so nostalgis.

ok...go!

LexisNexis?

- HAULN-SS - 12-12-2007

I probably do, and I have no idea what that means.

- Ginger - 12-12-2007

LexisNexis is a research database, it's mostly used in academic circles, but I know it's used elsehwere, too.

- Evan - 12-12-2007

LexisNexis is a Law (Lexis) and News (Nexis) database, unlikely the person would be in that unless they made some news.

Ive been trying to hunt down my best friend growing up who fell off the face of the earth and havent been able to find anything. Its odd in the age of widespread social networking and online presence that its so hard to find someone. There are the peoplefinder pay sites of course.

why cant there be a carfax for people :p

warning: this girl is busted. do NOT make her your girlfriend.

i dunno, you'd be surprised at what lexisnexis knows. i went to a tradeshow for work where lexisnexis had a booth there so they looked up my name. it had all my addresses and phone numbers from every house i've lived in since i was born.

- Evan - 12-12-2007

hrm, no shit. Anne uses it all the time at work, Ill ask her to look him up.

- HAULN-SS - 12-12-2007

I hope you weren't warning me, lol. I'm actually looking for 2 guys and a girl.

LexisNexis has mailing addresses, phone numbers, marriage certs, a whole bunch of shit. Maybe Jess will chime in about it?

- WRXtranceformed - 12-12-2007

Facebook y0

- HAULN-SS - 12-13-2007

already tried facebook. something tells me these kids from BFE missed out on the social networking website scene.

Actually, I've never looked up anyone on LN...too busy finding boring legal stuff. Meh, unfortunately my LN passwords from school are disabled, and at work I'm using Westlaw now. But hey, I can check to see if this girl has a criminal record!

- white_2kgt - 12-13-2007

Try calling the summer camp, maybe you can get her parents name/address/phone number. Be very careful not to sound like a crazy stalker.

- HAULN-SS - 12-13-2007

yar - that's why I haven't called yet. That, and I figured most places probably only keep records for like 3 years or something. I was trying to find the least privacy-invasive way of looking, so as not to come off like some kind of madman on a hunt for people.

- WRXtranceformed - 12-13-2007

I ran into a guy that I met back at VA Governor's School randomly at this girl's house who I was hooking up with for a while in Arlington. Her roommate was dating him. Turned out the fucker went to Duke. I was bitter because I didn't get into Duke. But I'm still happy, JMU is more betterer anyway!! I probably would have slit my wrists and turned into EmoLee if I ended up a Bluedevil.

LOL....EmoLee really rolls off the tongue easily.

easiest way to find someone in our generation (that and myspace). too bad too many stalkers use the same techniques...

Seriously, how did nobody have anything to say about this?
