Motorcycle Deaths up in VA for 2007 - G.Irish - 12-28-2007 http://washingtontimes.com/apps/pbcs.dl ... 19387/1004 But only around 120 or so for the year. Not a terribly large number considering how many motorcycles there probably are in VA. Its interesting to me how in the article they attribute the increase to older riders on cruisers. I wonder how many of those fatalities belong to Busa riders. - Kaan - 12-28-2007 Vindication for the sport bikers! "We're really seeing that time and time again: They're males in the 40s and 50s on leisure and touring bikes." - Ginger - 12-28-2007 It'd be nice if they published their data set... because nobody said much of anything
- Apoc - 12-28-2007 It doesn't seem a stretch given that baby boomers are reaching "cruiser age" at an increased pace. - Kaan - 12-28-2007 but the crap that the AMA is fighting off in some reguards but might accept is a classed motorcycle license. baby boomer with a motorcycle in his garage for X number of year could qualify for the bikes they ride now... on displacement mind you... but obviously they arent qualified to ride them or anything else for that matter. - G.Irish - 12-28-2007 asteele2 Wrote:It'd be nice if they published their data set... because nobody said much of anythingYeah it was a really fluffy article. I guess that's why I rarely read the Times. - PGK - 12-28-2007 statistics are incomplete. no mention of experience level, situation, at-fault, or citations issued. And the insurance institute classification of motorcycles is bizarre.....the 'busa is considered a sport-touring bike. I wonder how many fatalities on 211.... - .RJ - 12-28-2007 PGK Wrote:I wonder how many fatalities on 211.... The usual number, I think. - Feersty - 12-29-2007 I read the article in the Times. If you look at the amount of motorcycle deaths in a year, it really isn't that high. A good number would be to compile all the miles ridden by everyone and figure the percentage chances of death. But that number could probably never be found. - Ginger - 12-29-2007 ... and it wouldn't tell you much of anything because it doesn't establish any differentiation. |
