Any of you heard about this?

- Ole - 08-13-2008

Here are some pics.

yeah man it's all the buzz on slashdot. Other than the guy(s?) that died in construction, I don't think it's going to kill anyone ....else.

It really is an amazing project, the scale of that stuff is crazy, and it all looks like it's made of unobtainium, I don't even want to know how you come up with that much funding!

- Goodspeed - 08-13-2008

I think this was mentioned before, but those pictures are fantastic. Also, I'm not sure what those rings are made out of, but the largest one (27km dia.) would make a fantastic high speed test track, like Nardo on steroids. Lapping it in a supercar when the world ends would be a great way to go, come to think of it...

- CaptainHenreh - 08-13-2008

The Large Hardon collider isn't going to end the world.

I would love to find the person who started the rumor that it would and beat some science into him.

- Jeff - 08-13-2008

lol...rex said Large "Hard On" collider... I bet you can see it from space.

- NTIman - 08-13-2008

Rex knows a lot about it. Hes actually a Large Hard-on collector.

They're actually going to take two boners, accelerate them to .9c, and then collide them together to see if they can get a new form of matter.

For those that don't understand geek-speak.

FYI: This bad boy starts firing tomorrow! If you see France and Switzerland disappear, you know why.

If the earth does get swallowed up, its been nice to know you all.

- .RJ - 09-09-2008

Can it make Canada disappear too?

- WRXtranceformed - 09-09-2008

They need to point it in the general direction of Iraq / Afghanistan.

- Sijray21 - 09-10-2008

hooray - we're all still here

- BLINGMW - 09-10-2008

yeah but they haven't actually done any collisions yet, no real experiments, so there's still a good chance of deleting the universe

That would be a phenomenally awesome and ironic way for us to go, by trying to manually recreate our own creation.

- BLINGMW - 09-10-2008

yes but if we recreate our own creation, and there is no-one left to witness it.... does it make a sound?

If nothing else, we should get an upgrade from "mostly harmless".

- Ginger - 09-10-2008

There's been a sign in the town hall about this for weeks.

- Ole - 09-10-2008

If we re-create our own creation will there be two of me? That would be interesting.

There would be another you in some 4.5 billion years i would presume.

This thing should be able to speed up time.....I want to tell myself all the things I wish I knew when I was younger..... Things like "don't let Evan post the stupid pictures of you to your racing website"......
