locked d'em shits up yo! - Chris - 08-02-2004 question: I flushed out my brake lines today and put in the super blue (one of my steps towards slummit). Everything went fine and the pedal feels great. The only thing is after testing them out, when I brake firmly (hard but not close to lock up), it slows and then just at the end it seems the right front tire locks up for a second and the front end twitches. the roads were damp but it wasn't raining out. Whats weird is that its just the front right tire (which was the last wheel in the bleeding sequence). Im going to bleed that wheel again tomorrow and see if that cures it. Any other advice? p.s.- the Azenis are on order! - .RJ - 08-02-2004 What are you trying to cure? If you exceed the traction limits of the tires, they lock up. The RF locks first... unless you're Evan, who can get all 4 to lock up in varying order in the same braking zone. - Sijray21 - 08-02-2004 i have the same issue, except i need to bleed my brakes soon. any assistance would be helpful i just need a brake bleeding buddy for an evening
- Dave - 08-03-2004 I can help anybody that needs help with brakes. Just gimme a time a place close to home (I'm not driving to NoVA to bleed brakes ).Chris, have you already registered for Slummit? - Maengelito - 08-03-2004 .RJ Wrote:If you exceed the traction limits of the tires, they lock up. Its because in a light car, the proportion of the weight on the right side is significantly less than on the left, so you have a lot more braking traction with the left than right. - Chris - 08-03-2004 that explains it... It seems fine today, prob just because the roads were wet last night. - Chris - 08-10-2004 got my Azenis on yesterday... They feel like they need to heat up before they really grip, but awesome so far. work is boring today... - Mike - 08-10-2004 hotness. fwiw, mine don't really need to heat up
- .RJ - 08-10-2004 It will take a bit of street driving before they start to grip - not heat, just need to wear off the mold release on the tires. - Chris - 08-10-2004 .RJ Wrote:It will take a bit of street driving well then, "street racing" is what I'll do  - Maengelito - 08-10-2004 Chris Wrote:.RJ Wrote:It will take a bit of street driving that only heats up mashimoto zx tires... (i think thats what they're called) well that, and jackin big rigs - Sijray21 - 08-10-2004 .RJ Wrote:It will take a bit of street driving before they start to grip - not heat, just need to wear off the mold release on the tires. well i know that with the azenis (atleast my observation on sunday) was that i drove them for about 3k miles on highway/city driving and they harden'd up a bit. Then when i took them to the auto-x they softened up by the 3rd run. I noticed a huge difference in cornering, squealing, and braking. Now i know the key to getting them up to the right temp and wear. - white_2kgt - 08-10-2004 My left front locks up before the others. After Kaan corner weighted my car at VIR I think I know why... -c |
