You know they are in the 20-30k range for the earlier examples right, very affordable car with extremely exotic styling and performance

Re: NSX yum..... - D_Eclipse9916 - 12-24-2009

They are cheap to buy, not to maintain, dont let the honda fool you. My brother has 2, one a street one, and one a race version. After helping him work on his and seeing everything, convinced me not to buy one lol.

They are good god sexy tho! I would love one in my collection someday.

Re: NSX yum..... - G.Irish - 12-24-2009

Compared to other "exotics" they are cheap to maintain, but not to a more mass-market car. So if your choice was between a 92 NSX and a 92 348, by all means choose the NSX (unless you don't plan on driving very often or are a masochist).

I like how those 97+ NSX's look with the NSX-R hood. I'd like one of the 97+ cars because it has the 3.2L but almost all of them are the heavier T-Tops so I'm kinda lukewarm to them. Maybe I'll score a Zanardi edition one day.

Re: NSX yum..... - DroptopS13 - 12-24-2009

I'd love a earlier version with the conversion, I was actually looking at the prices about 2 weeks ago for fun, with the money saved buying the car you can set away the 10k for maintenance and such

does not compute.

Re: NSX yum..... - Ryan T - 12-24-2009

meh, the nsx never really did anything for me styling or performance wise.

Re: NSX yum..... - Goodspeed - 12-24-2009

Mmmm I love the NSX, and that video is great.

I really love the car from Getaway in Stockholm 3. Early NSX w/ basic mods, and it just looks so fluid to drive, and sounds fantastic:

GIS 3

For me? Its a toss up between an early red/black car and a facelift Long Beach Blue model

Re: NSX yum..... - Jake - 12-25-2009

I'll take that blue one as-is. Always thought these were good looking cars, the simple design works for it, compared to the more curvaceous lines of a Viper, Ferrari, etc. Interesting about the sub-standard reliability for it being a Honda. Although... it is (or was) in the "exotic" class, and that's where you pay to play.

Re: NSX yum..... - TorinoCobra070 - 12-25-2009

I've just always hated the back of the NSX Sad

the rest is good though.

Re: NSX yum..... - Goodspeed - 12-25-2009

A while back when several of us were at Summit we were all admiring a clean red/black NSX parked at the end of the classrooms facing the paddock. Turns out it was owned by one of the instructors, an older guy who was probably the coolest person I've ever met. He came out, talked to us about it, totally laid back, let me sit in it and popped the engine cover etc. He said the NSX was the best chassis he's ever experienced out of the 60 or so cars he's owned. Its so much more evocative in person, I'd honestly like to experience it behind the wheel over most other sports cars.

Yeah, cool story bro.

Re: NSX yum..... - CaptainHenreh - 12-25-2009

Unk is kind of more than an "older instructor guy", but if he says it's amazing, then it's amazing.

Re: NSX yum..... - fiveoh2go - 12-25-2009

Eh.

Re: NSX yum..... - WRXtranceformed - 12-25-2009

Build the motor and then put twin turbos on it and we'll talk. I'd still rather have a C6.

Who is he then....on one of my first track outings a few years ago I sat in on one of his group 1 classroom sessions, so I knew he was at least an instructor.

I was actually peering into the interior as he had the door open talking to someone else, and his words were something like "what the hell are you doing, get in there". Made me raff.

Re: NSX yum..... - .RJ - 12-25-2009

Dan Unkefer - he's been NASA's classroom instructor for as long as I can remember. Great guy, lots of track knowledge.
