I haven't been on the MM forum in several months but I thought I'd come back since I have a very important question for you fools.
Since its almost June and I'm still rocking my snow tires on my OEM 17" wheels on the X3, I've decided to get a new pair of shoes. I've narrowed it down to 2 options but I'm having trouble picking a favorite. I've always been a fan of classic BBS styles on BMWs but I'm not about to pay an outrageous price for authentic BBS wheels on Dasblaubabyhaulen. I've decided to go with 18s which were optional on the X3. I feel like it'll give the SUV a better look without compromising ride quality. Also 18" tires are a lot cheaper than 19" tires.
So my first option is this CSL style replica in "hyper black". I don't think I've ever seen hyper black wheels in person but I'm lead to believe that they're a dark chrome-ish color similar to the SBC color of the RP-F1s I use for track wheels on the S2000.

My other choice is the MiRo 112 wheel in silver, which is sorta similar to a BBS CH wheel. I like the design of this wheel more than the CSL replicas but I think silver is so blah. And this wheel only comes in silver or black.

And in case you don't know what my X3 looks like, here's a picture of it wearing a set of 17" ARC-8's in gunmetal from DJ's old E36 racecar. Those tires were just a weeeeeee bit small for the X3. I could fit my whole head in that wheel gap.
So MM, which wheel do you think would look better on my X3?

Out of those choices, hyperblack CSL reps. Bring on the real vs fake wheels debate!

Fair warning on the CSL reps, at least if they're the VMRs, they don't have a good inner lip to get the tire bar on, so whoever you have mount tires is going to curse you to the seventh layer of hell and possibly ask you to never come back to that shop.
I have my friend who's a tech do it for me, but it's such a bitch it takes both of us, and sometimes a 3rd person. You'd be doing higher profile tires so it'll probably be a bit easier, but still, you've been warned.
BTW this is an X3 with 18" CSLs
They look super out of place to me, personally I'd just find another set of stock X3 wheels, or maybe some X5 takeoffs if they'll fit.

Unfortunately, VMR is no longer making the VB3 in hyper black in the size I want. These eBay knockoffs essentially look the same but I'm sure they're straight off the boat from China. And I'd be putting a 235/50/18 tire on them so the sidewall shouldn't give the tire guys any problems.
And I don't think those CSLs look out of place on that X3. I think they would look better if they were a little darker, hence the hyper black.

Miro (lol) looks marginally better with a better dish. Those CSLs look extremely meh on an X3 (though might look better in a bigger size) and hyper-black is hyper-lame on an adult's street car.
and IMO, anything under a 19" looks small and dinky on a SUV.
those X5 wheels look by far the best
Let it be known that on the 29th of May, Year of Our Lord 2015, at 9:16am, Evan and I agreed on something.

I do like the concavity of the Miro more than those CSL replicas. And I did consider the fact that I'm not 16 anymore so a hyper black wheel might look out of place but silver wheels are just so meh. And more and more cars are coming with darker titanium or gunmetal wheels from the factory so I'm not overly concerned about that but it did cross my mind. As for the size, I agree that 19s would look better but tires are much more expensive and I still want it to be a comfortable ride. Plus this SUV is from 2007. I think its still smaller than brand new Foresters and probably even some sedans made today.

Yeah the X5 wheels look good on the X3. I don't really think the two styles you posted are well suited to SUV's.

19s or 20s do you look better even if the tires are expensive get some decent ones that aren't overboard. I voted other for the wheels and think the x5 look good as well

Wow, thank you all for your input on the X5 wheels. Unfortunately, your subjective opinions are all wrong.
Not the best pics (and of the newer F25 instead of my E83 chassis) but ya'll really don't think these wheels fit?
