HPDE Weekend Cost
#1
What are you guys spending per weekend? I just tallied up my cost for next season and here's what I got. Frequency is how many weekends I can use that item, purchase is how much it cost me up front.

Code:
Item         Purchase     Frequency   Per Event
Entry         $300.00   1            $300.00
Hotel         $140.00   1            $140.00
Front Pads    $170.00   3             $56.67
Rear Pads     $100.00   6             $16.67
Front Rotors  $200.00   6             $33.33
Rear Rotors   $150.00   6             $25.00
Gas            $70.00     1             $70.00
Oil/Filter    $40.00     2             $20.00
Brake Fluid   $3.00      1               $3.00
Tires          $700.00   6            $116.67
-------------------------------------------------
Total/weekend ---------------------  $781.33
holy crap! don't tell christina!

I guessed on the tires, everything else is pretty much dead on.

Huhu... cut costs by:

- Instructing/Worker Credits
- Sleeping on floor space or sharing r00m w/ 3-4 others
- Buy used tires
- Dont drive a 3800 lb tire/brake/gas eating POS Wink

tires - 300 mounted. used 3 track events, 10 autocrosses, 15k street miles... we'll say 35/wkend
front pads - 100. used 4 track events, 12 autocrosses, 5k street. 25/wkend
rear pads - negligible
gas - 25/wkend
oil - negligible
food - 20/wkend

i'd say i spend right around 100 per weekend.

$15 per weekend for hotel? better increase that to $80
You go through rotors like water, and stop pretending that your beat ass used tires last you 4 weekends

15 bucks to get into the track, 45 bucks because I choose to run 117 octane.

That's a whopping 60 bucks everytime I want to spin through 3 gears.

350 for one clutch each season. Soon to be 350 for one set of drag racing slicks per season. So tack on 700 bucks divided by how many track visits I make.

I'm guessing that next season my costs will be about about the same, less the entry fee of course - since between us Jess and I have at least 2.5 weekends worth of credits with NASA-VA, and a weekend with NASA-SE. And when I'm driving an event, she'll be working, and vice-versa.

Of course, I'm assuming that nothing major breaks - which with the Z is a pipe dream.

What brand/model/size tires are you running?

Havent wee been over this before? Wink

Last weekend's hotel cost = $0
Usually I split a r00m with 3 or 4 other donkeys @ $65 per night - Er, I guess that would make the cost $30-$35 and not $15. "My bad"

My rotors usually last one weekend longer than my pads, but I put 5 for simplicity. And @ $23 per rotor, I'm not going to get bent out of shape over it.

And those tires last 4 weekends. Dont hate, t0y0z are the shiz - A032's were nice when I got them but the grip fell off pretty quick.

Well, lately, I'm only paying 150 for the nasa events since christina is working so I get 1/2 off. Still, carguys, G&W they are all 300.

My tires are 275/40/17 RA1's. I'd suggest you get street tires first, they will also last longer than 6-7 weekends.

I've got some decent Kumho Ecsta 712's on the stock rims now. Eventually, I'm looking at some 5Zigen ProRacer GN+ wheels (17x9) and whatever 275/40/R17 R tires that are least expensive... But this probably won't happen until well into next season.

Maybe. You should get some b00st - it would go a long way towards explaining your rice :-D

Finding cast 17x9 wheels that were relatively light (~18lbs) hasn't been super easy - so far those 5Zigen's are the best I've found and aren't very expensive (compared to others). And it seems like Z32 folks who want non-chrome wheels under 19" in diameter that don't weigh 30lbs each are in the minority
