I talked to that guy at VIR in the fall at an audi club event (or might have been mazda), real nice guy, he then stuffed it in T4 later that day in the cool/damp on new michelin slicks.

You need to curtail your yayo intake. You're comparing driving a fwd car with almost 1/3 the horsepower. Pushing your car and pushing a GT3 ain't in the same ballpark, it ain't even the same sport!

On the driving a slower car, that's hard to say. If he is overdriving then he doesn't so much need a slower car as a change in attitude/goals. If its just that he doesn't have the sensitivity and precision to flirt with the limit without stepping waaaayyyyy over it (i.e. crashing) then he needs a slower car. I suspect its a combination of both.

Of course, its easy for us to talk from the sideline. I know before I'm done I'll probably have a crash or two on track.

JUST FYI GUYS...Matt is one of the coolest enthusiasts in town. HeÔÇÖs put tons of time and money into that car, and, from what I understand, if he would find a tire that met the requirements of that car, he could blast around the track without any problems.

I think he needs to move up to the GT2 or Turbo S depending on if he wants to move to AWD.

You drive a trak hor. He drives a fine tuned machine, where a second is a huge amount of time. He's trying to go pro fast and he's pushing it to the limit. He told me, one night in the middle of last week that something still didn't feel right with the brakes and tires. He didn't sounds like he was completely happy with the car and when you're going that fast, the problems are exagerated.

But one thing I do know, he'll be back in that car soon with the right tires and brakes and he's going to kick ass.

Having talked to the guy, I would agree with you that he is very cool, and definately a genuine enthusiast. I thought to myself how great it was that he went against the p-car arrogant-cock stereotype

However, saying those wrecks were not driver error, and due to tire problems is complete and utter bullshit. I saw him putting the michelin slicks on the car on a chilly damp day, and thought to myself at the time it was a bad idea, and I turned out to be right. Knowing the limits of your car and your tires is part of being a good driver, as well as making good decisions before you even put a wheel on the track. And saying "if he would find a tire that met the requirements of that car" is translated "find a tire sticky enough to cover up any major driver fuckups" Which is most definately not good driving. And Michelin slicks are more then enough tire for any car. Hell, a good driver can move any car quite well around a track on street tires.
Im not trying to call the guy out, but covering up ones mistakes and shifting blame only sets up the same mistakes to be repeated.

i'm not trying to compare my pile to his gt3 or my driving to his driving even. i'm trying to prove a point that people should drive something that is within their skills... not point in paying the costs of repairing a gt3 several times if you could learn just as much in a far cheaper car.

he definately sounds like a good guy, but maybe he needs to take a step back and take a clearer look at the whole picture. saying it was bad brakes or tires is just silly.
