So we spend billions of dollars a year as a nation to fight drug trafficking and who is helping dealers get drugs across our borders ? Government personnel.....

Makes you wonder what kind of drug bribes are occurring higher up our governmental ranks. I don't know why, but I really think this is so fucked up. We should just let people waste away on narcotics while we tax their use....at least then we'd be making money instead of wasting it. heh..

So 16 low level agents and soldiers get caught dipping their hand in the cookie jar and all of a sudden you call a conspiracy higher up in the government?
According to your logic since we have police that sometimes break the law we should disban all police forces and just give up?
Man, what is JMU teaching these days.

Yeah its deplorable that there is significant corruption present in the war on drugs but those guys are small fry. However, I wouldn't rule out that there are people higher in the government that are in on the drug trade.

Psshh, I think federal employment is the least of their troubles. They need to be worrying about how to limit the amount of butt raping they receive in jail.

Corruption is a mighty big problem to handle in law enforcement, government, and military. Can't stomp out all of it, just have to take down the most flagrant and extreme cases of it.

It happens at the upper eschelons of corporations. Why wouldn't it be plausible for it to happen in the government ?
I've never been a conspiracy theorist, but I also don't have 100% trust in people who are calling the shots. Look at the shit that's going down with the UN people taking kickbacks in Iraq's Oil for Food program.
That's not schooling that let's me look at the big picture, that's inherent skeelz If you trust people in power completely, you have a larger chance of getting screwed. I never claimed we should disband the government, I just think it's a little ironic that we waste so much money on the drug war while our own government agents are helping out the enemy. And no, I don't do drugs hah 8)

this money, which is in the billions, is coming from

government is spending millions of dollars to
eliminate the flow of drugs onto our streets. At the

goverment that is flooding our streets with cocaine.

characters that are involved in this tragic comedy(insert names of people in article here).
I agree that the war on drugs is somewhat tainted but if there were no war on drugs it'd be catastrophically worse, and it's busts like those that will deter people from doing it or have the people already doing it stop...............they can only win battles, with as much money involved in the drug industry they will never win the war

The war on drugs is a joke for the exact reason you give - "with as much money involved in the drug industry they will never win the war." Since day one man has been trying to find a new way to get high. Drugs don't need to be sold - they sell themselves. For every one bust we make there are 100 effective shipments of drugs - it's a losing battle. It would be much more effective to spend the money spent on the "war on drugs" on better rehab programs and drug education for young children. No demand = no market = no drug trafficking.
Why do people just post what they are thinking? Without thinking.

Ahh greed...everyones got it and no ones going to change that. If you look at it from the trafficer's view, the bribe is simply a logistics expense. And to an under paid person, free money can be a powerful influence.
It's biznass mother f'er
