What motor mike? I seem to remember you wanting a b16a? Although I could just be imagining this.

Lol. While I respect the engine, the cost seems entirely to much to me. Dont you have to pay arround $4k just for the engine? Although to be fair last time I looked a b16a was about 3-3.5.
Keith (who thinks $2k for a h22a will suit him just fine  )

For serious? Talk to me baby!
Keith, the H22 isn't as clean a swap and the motors/trannies are harder to find so I'd rather not go that route. B16A over B18C? Not much difference in price, a little more torque, a little more hp, I'd like to think I bit more room for improvement.

Agreed, however I doubt the price difference in what I have to do will come up to be $2-$2.5k. And even so, Ill take the extra 20 hp and 20 some odd torque, along with the extra 30-60 pounds (I forget the amount they found it out to be on H-T, whatever it was it wasnt that much).
Anyway, I agree 1.8 > 1.6, although im a little curious as to why you dont just spend the $4k on building up your b18b and boosting the hell out of it. OR, sell your car to me  and use your combined money to go out and buy something nicer!
oOo I like that last idea

boosting a motor not meant to be boosted for track use is an incredibly dumb idea. 200hp (when worked on) is MORE than enough in a 2000lb car.

Agreed but to pull 30 hp NA (assuming you dont mean 200whp which is even tougher) is going to be expensive isnt it? Although if you have the money, and have the time why the hell not.
Why do you say it is not meant to be boosted for track use? Just wondering.

LS VTEC>b18c1, even MORE torque and the b16 head is better, and oh yea you already have the block  you can find a b16 head for dirt cheap(compared to the supposed "$4000" to get the b18c1), go that route you'll be much happier. And just remember, high comp b16 pistons fit right into your b18 block (aren't hondas great). Or you can spend mad loot and go the b18c route

LSVTEC is awesome until you actually look at it. The LS block is not made to rev (long stroke), which is necessary for the B16 head to do its magic. VTEC isn't effective until when? 5200rpms? Redline on my car is 7000 although Ryan says it can do 8k without a hiccup (I think he's a retard). You also might as well swap the tranny too, because the LS gearing is super long.
Easier to go the 3500 (at most) B18C1 route.

He's just afraid he'll fall to the dark side with boost.
The thing with boosting an engine like the B18B for the track is that you'd have to be pretty conservative and make sure you boosted it properly (proper wastegaste, intercooler, oil cooler) if you wanted it to last. Its certainly not a stupid idea but more work that Mikey wants to do I imagine. Besides, VTAK ownz.

I dont see any other way to boost ANY car other than to do it properly. The idea that those might cost a bit of money is valid, however to gain 30 hp NA is also going to cost a bit I would think.

Cost a bit? Yes. Be more reliable? Yes. Be easier to implement? Yes. Money ain't no thang blang blang!
Motor + cams + i/h/e + tuning = not too much.

Yeah, until the LS bottom end flies apart when you try to rev it over 8000 rpm - if you dont, you're just wasting your time with the VTEC head. Nice street setup, but you forget the abuse that the racetrack puts on a car. Its just not a reliable track setup, I've seen too many of them fly apart.
If you were going to go with a b18, get a used GSR shortblock, put some JDM ITR pistons in and a b16 head with ITR cams, tune the bitch and roll... should get about 175-180whp at a much cheaper cost than a ITR swap.
Boost would be nice too, but presents a mess of other issues in the installation, driveabilit and propensity to break shit on track (axles, hubs, brakes, etc).
