2005 Giant TCR2 Road Bike

I've been dicking around considering a road bike for quite some time, but damn I'm glad I finally pulled the trigger. In a trial ride late last night I pulled 8 miles in 27 minutes, an average of over 17mph. CRAZY FAST!
I'm gonna rock a 20 miler tomorrow, anyone in? RJ?

the frame is aluminum w/ a carbon fork. the wheels are made be xero and are without a doubt the weakest part of the bike. i'll likely break them in due time though, so no biggy there.
i need to fiddle with the gear ratios a little bit, i was able to top the bike out several times lastr night on only small hills. ~29mph

My Trek 8000 had weak looking paired spoke wheels that I figured I would bend up in 2 rides. Much to my surprise, those things have been bombproof. I cant tell you how many hard, rocky rides with dropoff and slams those wheels took (you know what the riding is like in the mts), with my 200lb ass riding and arent a bit out of true. The paired design looks weak but there must be something about it that makes it inherently stronger.

What's your max gearing right now? I'd be surprised if it were less than a 52/14.... if it's, you should learn to spin more quickly. On longer rides your endurance and slow twitch muscles will thank you for it.
