Your Apple Laptop - Attn: Jack

Well, my laptop is toast and my desktop isn't worth putting money into. An Apple Laptop, the first rung Macbook, is top on my list to replace my computers with.

My primary uses are web browsing (yes, a lot of videos and stuff *cough*), messaging, media playing (dvd's, music, etc), and photography stuff. Basically, it's a common use and school machine.

So - how do you like your Apple laptop?

I've been pretty hesistant to get an apple but after 3 years of trying to get Joan to switch to PC and 3 years of me struggling to keep my pc's and Joan's apple to share our crap, I've relented and am going to buy the new Macbook.

Here's what we're getting:

2.16 ghz processor
2gb of ram
120gb hd

We have a 500gb external hd so I got the smallest internal hd possible. Apple extreme N so Joan and I can both work directly off the network drive and have wireless print and music (we have an express for the airtunes).

Even though this thread is to the attention of Jack, I just thought I'd chime in and say I love my Apple Laptop. I bought it for law school, took notes on it all day, everyday for 3 years, and continue to use it as my personal computer now. No problems, it's been great! :thumbup:

I love mine, been using it since 03 (so its the older Alum. Powerbook G4).

no problems, but id opt for a shit-ton of RAM if you plan on running alot of programs at once (Itunes, AIM, Web Browser, Word Processor) mine gets laggy sometimes.

For basic use, I'd highly recommend a macbook. I work from my machine all day for real work, and then all night for my own work. I got the macbook pro, and I think it's overkill.

Get an extra gig of ram (so 2gb total). You won't regret it. You don't need to right away, but it will help a lot more noticeably than it would on a windows machine.

I love(d) my old G3 iBook...the thing was a tank. It survived a catastrophic fire and subsequent sitting in a pool of water, and still runs fine to this day. Like others said, definitely upgrade the RAM. I find that Macs are lacking in that department...my intel iMac needs more. But for what you've described, a no brainer computer that can do everything well, Apple all the way

well, mac calls them something else, but i can't remember. But all that shit adds up when it comes to ram usage.

Nothing wrong with pushing the systems resources in the name of progress and usability IMO, but I just laugh at the double standard. When its windows, its called 'bloat', when its apple, its called 'features'
