- G.Irish - 04-27-2005 Mike Wrote:i'm not trying to compare my pile to his gt3 or my driving to his driving even. Whatever hater, I know you think hatch > Porsche wing. Same as your 250 dirt bike = easy as mountain bike But yeah nobody's saying he's not a good guy. Just making the objective observation that there is something wrong with his driving that has caused him two crashes. One could blame it on the tires but that would be a copout. Unless he's putting shitty H or lower tires on there pretty much any Z rated tire would be fine for the track. You just have to adjust your driving to stay within the limits of the tire. If the accident were due to tire blowout that'd be a different story. RJ is one my close friends and I thought he was headed for a crash in his R the way he was driving. Doesn't mean I'm dissing RJ or anything. Even RJ admits he was pushing it too hard for a car he didn't really want to wreck. So for Matt, its not a knock on him. Just an observation. As drivers we always have to be examining and evaluating our mistakes as well as those of others so that we can learn tough lessons the easy way instead of the hard way. The thing with HPDE's is that if you're driving a street car that you don't want to wreck you shouldn't be driving at 10/10's. If you are flirting with the limit you'd better damned well be able to not step too far over it. If you break both of these rules chances are you are going to have a crash (especially with a very fast car). Race cars are a little different because if your competition is good you have to be on the edge, otherwise you won't win. Even then a man's got to know his limitations. - Rex4life - 04-27-2005 i don't think a gt3 or any porsche would physically accept an h rated tire. it would shed the lugs and piss all over it. - Chris - 04-27-2005 I've met Matt here in town also. Very nice guy and was willing to talk to me for about 15 min when his car was being serviced. Even if hes wrecked it, at least he is tracking a car that was meant to be tracked! oh and Blair- STOP POSTING PICTURES OF WRECKED GT'S!!!! IT MAKES ME SICK!!! - Dave - 04-27-2005 yes, it saddens me too :-( - BLINGMW - 04-27-2005 crash 'em all! Calling them a Veranda, portico, or terrace sounds so pretentious. HAHAHHAHAHAHAH - GT3 Nut - 04-27-2005 Hey Mike and Evan: You shouldnt talk about anything you have no concept of!! The wreck in turn 4 in the fall was about tire/brake malfunction. The wreck in turn 10 this week was from driver error. I don't claim to be pro, but lets get in any car and see who can drive. I turned my fastest lap the run session before I wrecked. 207.7 I think that's half decent in a street car. My mistake in turn 10 is apparent to me, and I learned from it. I know what I did wrong, and I hope not to do it again. But fact is, I had a blast on monday and as soon as the car is fixed I will be back on the track again. Will I crash again? I hope not, but hey it happens even to the pros. Its part of pushing and having fun. And LEARNING in a safe environment! I will make more mistakes, no doubt, but I will have fun doing it. I have had much more experienced people compliment my driving ability and fast times. People that obviuosly are in touch with driving at the limit - unlike you! - GT3 Nut - 04-27-2005 By the way, thanks to all the people on this forum that had positive remarks. It's good to know that there are guys who don't claim to know it all, and still be true enthusiasts! - ViPER1313 - 04-27-2005 Oh shit, you guys done pissed off someone else  GT# Nut Wrote:People that obviuosly are in touch with driving at the limit - unlike you! Chill out - you are not allowed to be hostile until your 3rd or 4th post  . - BLAIR - 04-27-2005 good to see you on the forum.. to bad your first posts is on this topic. Also you have to understand that people on this forum are harsh and sometimes assholes cause they are all good freinds who talk shit all the time... something it took me a while to realize. i dont think anyone meant to personally attack you or your stills on this forum. if posting the pics caused any problems id be happy to take them off. my freind sent them to me from a subaru forum cause he reconized the car as a harrisonburg car... so i thought id share cause its a bad ass car... i also posted pics months back when i met you at the paint shop when we were in the yellow 944 turbo. just dont want you to think i posted up the pics of the car wrecked was a personal attack on you in any way. i just shed a tear when i saw it and i thought some people who have seen the car around town would be interested in seeing it too. here is a link to the first post of pics of your car from WAY back http://mmsports.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=905&highlight=yellow - Mike - 04-27-2005 i knew he'd eventually get here so i tried to be as civil and noin-offensive as possible... i expected a more mature/well thought out reponse, oh well. if you've got the money to throw around by wrecking a GT3 multiple times then by all means don't let me stop you. where i come from money doesn't grow on trees (i know you probably worked hard for yours, please don't take offense to that) so i drive something that cannot get me in to too much trouble and if it does, i can fix it for a few bucks. i can guarantee i am learning nearly as much as your are at each track event. do fighter pilots get their first seat-time in an F16? no, most likely a slow-assed prop-plane. my .02, take it or leave it ![]() curious... when you say 207.7 do you mean 2:07:7 or 1:47:7? which track configuration? what was the tire/brake issue that caused the first incident? what happened in this incident? who told you about this thread? it always seems when there is a thread about someone who doesn't belong to a board, but knows SOMEBODY that does and the thread could potentially turn in to something heated, the person shows up out of the blue. i wouldn't call them snitches per se, but not too far off ![]() GT# Nut Wrote:People that obviuosly are in touch with driving at the limit - unlike you! hrm... all you know about me from reading this thread is that i have not yet wrecked or even damaged my car on track, therefore i can only assume you mean the following: damage = "in touch with the limit"... heh edit: i'm an editing fiend. - bassmangrammy - 04-27-2005 yo...he didn't start with a GT3 - Mike - 04-27-2005 try not to read so literally. - G.Irish - 04-27-2005 Well Matt no one was really trying to attack you, everyone was just commenting on what was posted. Evan is actually an instructor and Mike has a good amount of track time under his chin so its not like we're a bunch of street stunnaz spouting off about stuff we don't know about. To be honest, almost any time we see a track crash video or hear a story we talk about what led to it for the educational value. Now, Evan and Mike are still haters but they hate on everybody so don't feel like it was personal. Its cool to see that you haven't been discouraged in the least by the crashes. A lot of people will have one shunt and decide they don't wanna go out anymore, especially with expensive cars. So what exactly happened? Came in too hot and lifted? Power oversteer? Too much trailbrake? Also, what was the deal with the Michelins? Blow out? Brake failure? |
