just wondering how people feel about anything like this

bling off!

I prefer the prim and proper look for cars. But I guess you don't see wings on highline vehicles. How much does a wing cost? Would the capital be better served on engine parts? Is there any driving benefit to a wing?

actually, depending on your specs yes....it does help rear traction (weight) and downforce (with enough speed), but I would work on the engine, then go for the wing...I see too many people just go for looks, and have nothing running under the hood.

i don't like most wings. I do like most factory wings on cars, but most aftermarket wings just suck.

yea, I really only like ones like the ones in the pics I posted......A lot of people try to go funky with em, and it turns out looking bad

- ScottyB - 09-19-2004

im a fan of the decklid spoiler or mid-wing...but that's about it. and duckbills look hot hot hot on hatchies!

- Feersty - 09-19-2004

Those big aluminum wings are wack YO. Don't get them you'll look like a ricer in 5 seconds, no problem. Word.

I'm gonna have to pull THE card...

imho I think those wings are horrendous. But hey, don't listen to me or any other naysayers. It only matters how you feel about the ugly, useless, heavy, ricey wing you love on your car.

- bluhayz - 09-19-2004

wings are fun.... airplanes are fast, and wings make your car look like an airplane. therefore... wings make your car fast. How's that for logic.

imho though, wings don't help you, and they ain't cheap, so why bother. You'd be better off buying beer.

That is the reason my CL is going to be cool. I'm going to go completely stock on the outside, but make it very fast. Kinda like a pool shark.

Everytime I see a civic CRX with a big wing and a muffler in which the diameter is equal to the wheel size, I laugh. But what I think is impressive, is to see a car that looks completely stock, out perform any other rice car on the road.

But just for the record, I'm opposed to wings on my vehicles, but I'm all for wings on other cars...for comic relief.

I think they look great!

...on a car that's prepped correctly for a specific series that allows such a thing. Or even a show car or other highly modified car that's made to emulate the former. If we're talking about a street car, I'm sorry I even chimed in and will go back to biting my tongue.

And what is that? A wing installed on a chicken? A baby's face? Seriously, wtf is that!

ew

- Dave - 09-19-2004

if the wing is functional, im all for it. Otherwise, I see no reason for it.
By functional, I don't mean "provides downforce at 170 mph" b/c nothing is going to go that fast short of a prototype car. I like most stock wings, and anything that isn't really obtrusive to the driver's view. IMO, the STi and EVO wings are borderline for me in terms of riceyness, but they match the aggressive tone of the car.

I agree with Dave on this 100%

please don't be "that car" I see everywhere and laugh at.
