I've tried both and they've worked fucking great for me and at least two other guys I know. However, I've found that it doesn't work for everybody.

It works best for people who are naturally a bit of a smart ass but more importantly you've got to put actual effort into working on your game. The people I've introduced to it that didn't get it working were the ones that didn't really try.

All in all it's just one of many ways to skin a cat. If you're a reasonably perceptive guy you've probably figured out a lot of the stuff on your own but for me it brought a lot of ideas together into a framework I could work with. I'd have to say watching the DVD series (which I downloaded via bittorent) was the biggest single boost to my game.

The thing I like most about it is that it doesn't rely on a lot of canned lines, it's more about coming up with stuff to say on the fly. Canned lines will eventually get played out or shot down but when you can do something original that's when you can really do some damage.

Double Your Dating summed up in one sentence:
Be confident, be a man, dont be a pussy.

Its effective and it works, as long as you dont get bogged down in the details, and apply the theories to your personality, instead of trying to akwardly fit your personality to the theories.

I also found the series to be a very interesting study of human behavior and psychology. Its not a collection of pickup lines, there is some very solid material presented in it.

the "interviews" are very hit or miss as far as gleaning educational content from them, and mostly just for entertainment value.

(I think Alan is just being a smartass because I probably left the DYD CDs in the car he just bought from me)

^^ haha i thought you guys had pulled the trigger too. That's going to be a concern for me if I get into another serious relationship, especially the older I get....if a girl wants to get married that's it, you'll never hear the end of it and you'll have to dive in or she'll leave your ass for someone who's willing to do it.

I've been dating older women lately (mid 30s) and I've found that it goes to both ends of the spectrum. Some are looking for love, some just got out of nasty divorces etc. and are just looking for someone to have fun and spend time with.

I was pretty smashed at a bar in Winchester the other night actually with a buddy of mine. Two ladies beside us were mid 30s and hitting it just as hard as we were. The night got a whole lot more ridiculous when I was like "So what are y'all celebrating?" and the answer came back "Divorce Party!"

i keep thinking of My Cousin Vinny's Marisa Tomei - their 'biological clock's are tickin' like a clock' at their mid-30s, what would you expect :-P

So, after skepticizing about it, and all manner of other kinds of dates, I set something up on eharmony. Some gal and I start chatting on there, and she suggests that we meet. So the first time i set up fell through, she went out of town, but wanted to reschedule. Skepticism increases. A week goes by, and we finally met IRL last night. After reading 64 out of 93 IRL dates ends up disaster, I was not expecting a whole lot. Turns out though she came as advertised...pretty, easy to talk to, smart, yadda yadda yadda. So, for you dating gurus, here's a question - Can a second date be an extension of the first? i.e. another dinner scenario? I was hoping to do something more fun for a second date, but I am out of town for a wedding this weekend, so it's gotta be during the work week. I was thinking i could maybe do another dinner, then something fun the following weekend..any ideas?

Also, chalk one up for teh eharmonizing...we got along, and she was very pretty...just icing on the cake

I am by no means a dating guru, but I see no reason why the 2nd date can't be similar to the first. That said, since it sounds like you've been talking a bit, maybe try doing something that she enjoys that isn't a full-day thing. For instance, if she has mentioned she loves scary movies, putt-putt, or something like that, you're talking a couple hours of time and you can make a point of saying "I remember you said you like doing (insert activity here), woud you like to get together and do that on (day of week)?" She'll appreciate that you actually remembered it was something you enjoyed and shows interest in who she is and what she likes. Something semi-active is better than a movie b/c you can still talk and get to know each other better while having fun at the same time.

Take her to something active or creative for the second date. You want to be the guy who is different and has ideas not the guy who does the same thing as every other guy that wants to date her does.

I just broke up with my ex, although we'll probably get back together again eventually when she straightens her life out. My best advice, just spend a weekend at JMU. Girls throw themselves at you there!

Oh wait, we're talking about dating not banging.

Somehow I doubt she'd be into the stripping clubs, at least at first. Or idb.

I was leaning toward something active too..or at least something with an entertainment aspect to it (hibachi/sushi place where they do it all in front of you, etc). Part of the problem is it is starting to get a bit cold..when we met yesterday, it was 60 and the wind was blowing like mad, so I am glad we were inside. I am sure there are inside date activities, and definitely stuff on the weekends worth doing (museum tours downtown, skyline drive, hikes, whatever..she's into that stuff) but I think I might be limited because it's a weekday thing. Maybe I'll end up just doing movies and ice cream, or something along those lines until next weekend.

I'm not going to post pics here for fear of jinxing myself somehow, but maybe later after i fuck it up, or it's a sure thing. Seemed like e-harmony had a lot of pretty girls on there though. This girl is tall, blonde, got in to harvard law on summer scholarship..etc...I can't remember the last time I met a girl like that in a bar or wherever else.

I think that

Movie is a bad date because you can't talk to her, it's just you two sitting next to each other for 2 hours. Not a good environment for getting to know each other.

I like Wine, but she said she's mostly a beer person, and named off a few microbrews that she likes, so I believe her. I think I am going to go towards some kind of more-fun dinner. I am going to do some research and see what I can find. If that goes well, next saturdayish will be for fun stuff
